Legacy of Kain Returns...

Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver.

Excellent series of games that's getting the reboot treatment. Released in '99, Soul Reaver was/is one of my all time favorites. The top notch writing and voice acting was addicting, and it's the first game I played that felt like you were inside an epic, film-like story. Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, and LoK: Defiance were an excellent trilogy across the board. The lead writer on this series? Amy Hennig. You'll know her as the creative force behind a little set of games with Uncharted in the title. Too bad she won't be working on the reboot frown.gif

Legacy of Kain and Wolfenstein domains registered

Well, would you look at this: Square Enix has registered a domain pertaining to the Legacy of Kain series.

warfornosgoth.com was filed on Feb 7 (don't try it doesn't do anything yet). The earliest rumor of this happening was march of 2012, so it's been about a year already. Maybe we get a taste at E3? I'll be keeping this thread current for anyone who cares smile.gif

Never played LoK, but I loved Soul Reaver! The ending could have had more meat on the bones, but the rest of it was top tier for its time.

Fun fact: Amy Hening, the lead director of the Uncharted series, was the director, producer, and writer for Soul Reaver.

really hope this ends up happening. I loved the Legacy of Kain series, even put up with Blood Omen 2. I'd love to see it continued and would settle for a reboot, but hope they can get writing on the level it was in the original games.

I'm also a longtime fan of the Kain / Raziel games but as I recall Defiance ended in something of a cliffhanger; it would have been nice if they'd resolved that storyline before doing a reboot.

Also, I have to say, a Legacy of Kain game just wouldn't be the same without the voice talents of Simon Templeman and Michael Bell as Kain and Raziel. Hopefully they'll get those two voice actors back.

Big fan of the series too!
I've played them all, even the bad one lol (Blood Omen 2).
The 1st Legacy of Kain, Blood Omen is my favorite along with the 1st Soul reaver.

Gotta love GAF. Random website in Sweden lists Legacy of Kain-2014 !!

Couple other interesting placeholders, like Mirror's Edge smile.gif

Fingers crossed the LoK is the real deal and actually happens. They did spell Kain wrong, but I'm still down smile.gif

Well, this might be disappointing...

Nosgoth in active development, not ‘traditional’ Legacy of Kain game
Quote:
In a statement sent to VG247 this morning, Square-Enix community manager George Kelion confirmed that a studio is actively developing the title. He told us, “Nosgoth exists and is in active development, but is not a traditional Legacy of Kain action-adventure game”, and added: “Nosgoth is set in the same universe as previous LoK games, but on a different branch to the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver series. The community should not be thinking of Nosgoth in terms of a single-player experience.”

"Not thinking in terms of a single player experience..." maybe some kind of MMO style open world? This will not be at E3, hopefully more leaks will be forthcoming.

Well that is disappointing news. We'll see how it will turn out.
