Folks,
I was wondering if someone might be able to help me diagnose a problem I'm having with my Sony - its been a great friend over the years and I'd hate to get rid of it, as my family has watched many movies on it. About 5 years ago one of the convergence chips went bad on the D board and right before the chip failed there were horizontal lines across the screen.
The other day, I turned my set on, and the horizontal bars were back. Also the picture is shaking/shrinking/expanding. Since the problem was similar to the previous problem, I thought it might be the convergence chips again. So I ordered another pair and installed them, however the symptoms did not change. Attached is a snapshot of what the screen looks like when on. Any thoughts of what component is going? Could this be the fly back? Last time I really diagnosed something like this, TV sets had mostly tubes in it (guess I'm dating myself)...
