I really enjoyed the Dave Brubeck tribute with Chick Corea and Stanley Jordan. And the Levon Helm tribute was OK. I pretty much skipped over everything else after 10 seconds.

You sure? I know the Jennifer Nettles doing HELLO was from the Diamond tribute, but the duet with Gaga and Nettles i dont think was from that. In any event, they are awesome performances wherever they were!!!

I'm happy that a few others here hate the band Fun too. I can't stand that WEEEE AREEEEEEE YOUUUUNG song and that lead singer just has a very punchable face. Just b/c they play a song 10,000 times a day over and over on the radio until it's ingrained into your head doesn't make it good.

+1 It's just awful. I hate hipster music. Isn't it ironic?

I think Jennifer Nettles has the greatest voice in all of country music, and to be honest, i think its wasted. She has an incredible power voice, did you see the insanely fantastic version of YOU AND I she did together with Lady Gaga on the pre-grammy show last year? Its on YouTube if you havent seen it, geez is she awesome. I wish she come out with a cd/dvd of power songs.

I like a lot of Shania Twain's stuff too.

Also Johnny Cash. But in general, its far from my favorite genre.

Google her rendition of James Taylor's Hello from last years Kennedy Center Honors.

FOPA, You are correct. I am an idiot. It was Neil Diamond. Makes sense as He is the one who actually did the song HELLO and not James Taylor. confused.gif

They are actually mixing the music performances in DD 5.1.

Really? News to me. I will double-check when I get back to editing my capture, but when I was decoding the Dolby-E to 6 channels, when it appeared that a music performance was happening, just like last year, there was no center channel. I don't remember there being a LFE channel either (the center and LFE channels were obviously there, just silent). The surrounds should have been ambient audio as well, not anything directly from the performance mix.

It was Dolby-E 6-channel Mr.Video, I think some of the folks get confused with how something is interpreted, don't forget on C-band there are some feeds with 6-channel audio (not 5.1) and also they don't understand the quality-of 4:2:2 CBS feeds or the beauty of of some 30Mbps MPEG-4 video that we do....wink.gif

I know that it was 6-ch Dolby-E. The OP was saying that the music was mixed in 5.1, when it really wasn't. It was just stereo over the 5.1 transport.
