Thinking about getting a different set of PC speakers... but should I even bother?

Well currently I have a Altec Lansing ADA995 5.1 speaker set, THX certified, and it has 200 watts I believe. I kind of want to keep this since I bought it for just $10 at a yard sale and the sound quality is excellent, however I'm thinking about getting a 5.1 or 2.1 speaker set that has better sound, and also has a small subwoofer. The sub for the ADA995 is pretty much the same size as a desktop PC. Are there any PC speakers really worth upgrading to that are less than $130? Or should I just keep what I have? Currently I have my eyes on the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker set or a Swan M10 2.1 set. I am using my speakers for my Macbook and PS3.

I use the Audioengine 2 speakers for my PC, and they are great, but $199.

The M-Audio AV40 are $140, and might be good.

You could probably use your existing sub, since the volume is not going to be excessive when you are close; or you could get a used 10-inch one cheap.

How would I be able to use the sub I already have? $140 plus buying a sub sounds a little too much for me.

I misread; I thought you already HAD a subwoofer. my error.

The M-audio AV40 do have larger speakers than mine, so maybe no sub would be needed.

That's a matter of taste.
