Good LCD TV's for 1K??

Hello.

I'm sure that this question has been brought up many, many times...

What are some good LCD TV's currently on the market for 1K?

I'm upgrading from a 42" LCD Insignia (bought 4 years ago).

I'm looking for something in the 46- 55" range. This TV will be used in a family room that has allot of sunlight, mainly used to watch TV (sports) and movies at night. I'm not interested in 3D. A SmartTV is a plus, but not really needed as I will be using an XBOX for Netflix,etc. Also, audio isn't a big deal as I will be using an external system.

I'm mainly interested in getting the best TV (picture wise) for the $$$.

My budget is 1K.

Any suggestions?

It pretty much fixed in stone.

The range you mention hits two distinct sizes. Is there a preference between the 46"-class and 55"-class?

The folks I know with Sonys have always been happy with it's interpolative rendition of motion, it's a 240Hz, and the sonys I've seen have better off-angle vewing than most others in their respective price ranges.
