TC-60PU54 vs. TC-P55UT50

The former is available at Sam's for $798.00, the latter as low as $849.99 (online and at Best Buy). Need to replace the 50" 720p DLP with its weekly addition of dead pixels, but trying to save money due to recent AVR purchase! ~$50 price difference is minimal, so questions are

1. Will the more "expensive" item have that much better a picture?

2. If not, will I appreciate the extra real estate provided by the additional 5" diagonal?

I *am* a 3D fan, but can save that for the dedicated home theater (projection/screen - some great bargains out there, compared to flat-panel displays). Neither do I need a smart TV - I have network capabilities in the BDP and AVR.

I'm leaning toward the 60", just wondered if anyone might have suggestions to the contrary.

go with the extra 5", imo the picture is identical! 3d who needs it for 1 or 2% of total viewing.

smartv is lackluster @ best, your smartphone has much better processing power. i hook up my ip5, via appletv for airplay & works much better than my neighbor's UT50!
