Salvage Value

My wonderful Panny P60ST30 has had its screen wrecked by a tottering cow.

Is there any real value to the components or should I just pitch it? I can't imagine the repair cost being any less then the cost of a replacement.

I get 7 blinks when it powers up, is there any chance there was damage to a board with the cracked display, or is the 7 blinks just it saying it knows something is wrong?

Thanks.

This is a link to ebay and parts available for that set. If you haven't damaged a bunch of the components there is some value in there if you know how to get it all apart. I will say that I don't know about modern TV's but older ones had a capacitor in them that could give you quite a jolt. On a side note I need to hear the story of a cow damaged your TV

I was wondering since the TV had power on it when it was whacked if any of the boards could have been damaged (as I am getting the 7 blinks), or is that just an indication that one of the boards is complaining about the cracked screen.

I am quite good with electronics and stuff like this, getting the bits out is no issue. God it pains me though.

I picked it up a little over a year ago for 1350 and now my replacements are looking like a 60ST50 at 1800 or a 60GT50 at 1850.

Still hurts twofold - one, having to buy again and two, the new unit being about 500 more than the original.

As for the uncoordinated bovine, that is a sore spot and I'd prefer to leave that for another day.

Thanks.

Do you have accidental damage covered as part of your Contents Insurance on your house insurance?

meh, no. I thought I did, turns out only 'outside agencies' and 'perils'.

PO'd beyond belief. Looks like there basically is no value, bits here and there, what, $100? Why bother...

Often a cracked plasma screen when subsequently powered up will fry the buffer board leading to a 7 blink code.
