Manual saturation/ sharpness

Is this a necessary feature for prosumer camcorders? I found a camera that i like and its major criticism is that it lacks manual saturation/sharpness controls. I'm a beginner with cameras, but i don't want to be limited with my purchase.

I'm no major expert, but I've personally never heard of a "prosumer" camcorder that didn't offer adjustments for saturation and sharpness. If you really want total manual control of settings like those and more, maybe you should consider a still camera that shoots video instead of a camcorder. Like maybe the Panasonic LX7 or FZ200: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1453083/video-comparison-the-panasonic-tm900-and-lx7

Or the Sony RX100: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1453377/rx100-real-video-of-people-and-places

Also, maybe spend some time reviewing video samples from dozens of still cameras here: http://vimeo.com/user803551/videos
