Can this mount be used for an 80" tv?

Wasnt sure where to post this exactly so if I'm wrong please correct me.

I bought this mount

for a 70" vizio. I ended up not buying the vizio and plan on getting a sharp 80". From what i gather, all tvs have the same bolt patterns for the mounts.

So if the the sharp is 20 pounds heavier and this will be lag bolted to the studs, why wouldnt it work? I'm basically trying to decide if its worth spending the return shipping and taking a 20% restocking fee hit.

I would have a lot of reservations about hanging my $4K TV on a single arm articulated mount that probably isn't UL listed. The Vizio is equipped with a 400x400 VESA mounting hole pattern, a Sharp 80" will likely use 600 (W) x 400. If you can spend more on your display, you should be able to invest in the safety of the installation as well.

Not correct. They occur in a known "set" of spacings, but which pattern is used depends on the unit. Honestly don't know if there are VESA set standards for 70"+ displays. (the 70" Vizio models use a 400x400mm pattern, which is the largest one I remember being 'standard' - don't know if an 80-90" display could use that).

The mounts are typically variable adjustable in these sizes, so the limiting factor is the actual spread/width of the mount itself - whether it is wide enough to actually reach the holes. Check the specs for both the TV and the mount and see if they can work together.

And yes, the weight is the other issue. That's a >100 pound TV, and you're going to put it on an articulating mount. That's a really expensive TV to be taking chances on if there's any question! My first reaction to seeing that mount is that it doesn't look up to the task for your display, and since they don't seem to list a weight rating, I wouldn't recommend it...
