Acer's C7 $199 chromebook as HTPC

Any thoughts on whether Acer's C7 $199 chromebook will perform reasonably as an HTPC hooked up to a 47' LCD? Essentially think primarily as a playback device to play MKVs off of a server I have at home. Also content from Amazon prime and web surfing.

Why not get the chromebox? I'm not sure how well chrome OS ties into a home network, you need to verify that you can tie in and play files off the network. Its a great OS for what it does, but its intentionally simple and limited.

My feeling for chrome OS is that its for:
safe web browsing
email
productivity via google docs
