Sorry if this thread is in the wrong section. It was the closest one I found. I mostly reside in the local HDTV and reception section.
I was given a Sony LBT-G3300 back in 2010 from a family member. Basically it is one of those all-in-one units with a radio, dual tape deck, 5 disc CD changer, built in amp and a line in for a turntable. The unit needed some cleaning and one of the tape heads that rotates to play the reverse side of the tape was jammed, but not broken. Luckily I was able to fix that.
The unit still works well and has very good sound, but lately it seems like some of the buttons have a mind of their own and process other commands when pressed. For example, when pressing the power button, the unit sometimes wants to set the clock as if you pressed the clock button. Pressing the tuning buttons may sometimes switch the FM mode from stereo to mono and pressing the demo button may toggle the power, even when the unit is off. The buttons that control the tape and CD player all seem to work OK. I took the unit apart and all the buttons seem to be OK. Capacitors also looked OK.
Does anyone have any ideas to why the buttons process other commands? It is somewhat of an annoyance to me. I would have expected better quality from Sony, but I think this unit was built around the time when Sony started to skimp on their quality.
