Should I wait for Sony OLED

I was in the Sony store today and was looking at the Sony HX950 and what a nice TV. Now I dont want to spend $3000.00 for the 55 inch and than couple months later the OLED comes out. They were saying the OLED 55 inch should be around 4,000.00. What would you guys do.

That would certainly be a great price, but I just can't see that happening.

I'm not sure who told you that, but:

1. Sony hasn't announced a consumer OLED for this year. They showed a concept 56" but that model will not launch in stores. The only consumer OLED TV's are from Samsung and LG. I wouldn't expect an OLED from Sony until next year at the earliest. The person who told you that may have been confused by the UHD TV's that Sony is launching this year, but those will still cost over $4000.

2. OLED is still a costly technology. Samsung and LGs OLEDs cost over $10000. I really doubt well see an OLED for $4000 anytime soon (at least 2 years).

With that being said, there are some great TV's out and even better ones coming out soon. If you want to stick to Sony, the HX950 might be your best bet. There is also the edge lit W900 with triluminous LED.

OK, let me be abundantly clear.

1) There is a zero percent chance of Sony delivering an OLED TV this years. When I say "zero percent", I do not mean 1%. I mean none, nada, nil, zippo, zilch. Zero.

2) If or when Sony delivers an OLED TV, perhaps around 2015, it might be $4000, but I wouldn't be surprised that it was still pricier than that.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about OLED sets from Sony being $4000 any time soon.

I'd say buy the HX950 if you like it and enjoy it for 5 years or so. By that time OLED should be more prevalent, with kinks worked out over the first couple generations of the tech, and prices way down from the early models.

I agree with what everyone said here and go for the HX950 if thats what you like. There will be no OLED tv's from Sony this year, maybe next year, but not this year for sure.
