Intel wants to bring internet TV to the masses in 2013, with a focus on the living room TV as well as mobile devices. Intel promises a new set top box with an integrated camera that could recognize individual viewers and learn their taste in programming. The new box promises to turn TV viewing into a "real social experience". It will also make targeted advertising possible. Intel plans to bring instant channel switching - a real issue with current digital systems. Intel also claims they will offer channel bundles based on interest as opposed to quantity, however the service will not feature a la carte TV channels.
Is this a credible threat to Apple? How about Comcast? I would guess a sports-oriented package could be very popular.

'The service will be relatively full-featured: "we will have live television, catch-up television, on-demand, [and] a set of applications." The hardware will also include a camera — which can be turned off — that will apparently watch users as they watch TV (including, possibly, for targeting ads)'. source: theverge.com
