Center speaker problem with Yamaha Rx-V671

Thread Starter
I recently bought a Yamaha RX-V671.
I have connected my 4 speakers and sub woofer in a 5.1 set up.
I have choosen in the menu for the basic 5.1 set up.
I have used the YPAO room correction and calibration system and test tone set up but it won't recognise my center speaker.

To check the speaker I have connected it to another speaker output : no problem speaker works fine.
Wiring is fine.

What can be wrong?
Thanks for helping.

Four speakers?

Also, forgetting about YPAO, does sound play out of the center?

Try resetting the AVR's microprocessor (see Owner's manual for directions).

I have looked through the manual.
Did not find any rest of Microprocessor.
However I can do a system reset and change everything to standard settings as it originally came from the shop.
Is this something similar?

First, try holding down the power button for 10 seconds to reboot the receiver (this is like restarting a computer). (Check the troubleshooting pages in the manual to confirm that power button for 10 seconds is the way to do this.) If that doesn't help, then do the reset that jd suggested. In the manual for my 473, it's called INIT. It's in the ADVANCED SETUP menu, toward the back.

Hi JBWIII

Thanks for your advice.
I have done both, the init reset and the power button reset.
In the meanwhile also upgraded to latest firmware.

Unfortunately still no sound through the center speaker.
I switched again the center speaker to the surround speaker connection and the speaker works well.
I have connected the surround speaker to the centre speaker connevtion: No sound.
It's obvious that something is wrong witht he output connection.
Do I need to connect kind of a different speaker?
It's so strange why there is no sound????
I have no clue anymore.

Maybe go back to the shop for a repair??

If you've reset the recevier, and tried connecting a different speaker to the center channel, then the last variable would be the speaker wire. If you haven't already, try using a different piece of speaker wire to make the connection.

If that doesn't work, then it sounds like you have a defective unit. Hopefully you can take it back and exchange it for a different one.
