If purchased from an authorized dealer, are JVC projector warrantys transferable? I'm considering buy a used JVC and really need to know.

Thanks,

i don't think so

this from jvc's website

According to the Limited Warranty document shipped with the product, JVC Professional Products Company (U.S.) warrants the unit from date of purchase only to the original End-User who purchased the unit. The warranty is not transferable if the product is re-sold.

While I don't know exactly how it works with JVC, there are plenty of companies out there that acknowledge the warranty no matter who is in current possession of the item. The only time this wouldn't work is if the unit was registered to a specific person. I don't know if JVC has such a database. If not, all you would need is the receipt/proof of sale with a date from an authorized dealer. I don't see why they wouldn't honor the warranty. If the unit was going to break I don't think it matters much who is in possession of the unit.

Obviously the receipt would have to be in the name of the person trying to get warranty service. If you bought used from someone who has the original receipt I would make sure I had an agreement in place that if the projector needed warranty service before the warranty is up that the person the receipt is in would get the warranty service. Of course JVC would return projector to them and you would have to pay for shipping from them. When I called in to have my bulb covered under warranty they required I email them receipt with my name on it from authorized dealer.

If the projector is from a fellow AVS member, i'm sure they would help out if needed.
