I am having trouble with my 4x2 multiplexer switching signals when my 1x2 splitter is hooked up to one of the outputs.
I currently have a 4x2 HDMI multiplexer similar to this:

and a 1x2 splitter coming off one of the outputs of the multiplexer:

My setup is the following:
Multiplexer Inputs:
DVR
PS3
XBOX 360
Computer
Multiplexer Outputs:
1x2 splitter
Kitchen TV (in adjacent room)
1x2 splitter:
Input: Output from Multiplexer
Outputs: TV, Projector
My projector screen drops in front of my TV so I would never need to output a different signal on each. My kitchen is in another room so it would be nice to have the flexibility to output something different than what is shown on my tv/projector.
The problem I am having right now is that if I have both TVs on and turn off my kitchen TV, the 4x2 multiplexer won't switch to the 1x2 splitter and the display on the TV turns off. This requires me turning off the multiplexer manually. When it reboots, the TV picks up the signal again.
One possible solution is to switch to a single product like a 4x4 multiplexer:

But my AV Receiver is also old so I am due for an upgrade, possibly one with HDMI switching.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a fix to my problem? Or should I go with a new 4x4 multiplexer or new Receiver?
Thanks!
