I am not really an expert on this, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I was in the same boat as you so I've been trying to pay close attention to how the two sets compare. I've been hearing a lot of talk that the ST60 uses the same panel as the GT50, so if that is true then the screen itself should be the same. What would differ would be the other components, the processing stuff and the software/firmware, as well as what is in the box and the price.
Around the new year I basically went and dumped the highly reviewed sets into my cart on Amazon and have been tracking their price since. The 60" GT50 dropped to to around $1699 a couple of weeks ago, but I held out and instead of continuing in a downward path like a lot of the other sets in my cart, it started going back up. Now it's somewhere around $21 hundred; yikes! And it doesn't even come with glasses, so you can expect to drop another $100+ on two pairs of those. When the ST60 went on pre-sale for far less than the GT50 and with free glasses, it certainly caused a little stress and doubt over which set I wanted to invest in. What little reviews I have seen have been very positive, so I bit the bullet and went with the ST60. I figure I have about a month to change my mind or find a better price, but with the way the GT50's are going I don't think I'm going to get lucky and get one for cheaper unless I go used or open box. As long as the ST60 looks as good as my 2010 PN50B550T2F Samsung, just bigger and in 3D, then I'll be happy.Edited by ThrowingChicken - 3/28/13 at 11:33am
