Panasonic "TC-47WT50" at Costco.com for $899.99 (?)

Costco.com is listing a Panasonic "TC-47WT50" for $899.99 (plus $39 shipping).

I'm not sure what to make of this exactly. I'm familiar with the TC-L47DT50 which is going for about $1100 now but has been as low as $799 recently on Amazon. Also there's the flagship TC-L47WT50 which Amazon is selling for $1799.

So, this Costco.com set might either be a new/different/Costco-specific model, or a decent deal on a mis-labeled L47DT50, or a smoking-hot deal on a mis-labeled L47WT50?

The pictures of the set on the Costco site seem to be copies of the L47DT50 from the Panasonic site ... (the L47WT50 has a different stand), but there is a picture lower in the product description that looks like a L47WT50. Also if you click to download specs for the WT50 on the Costco site you get the spec sheet for a DT50 WT50 (update: Costco.com changed the spec PDF from DT50 to WT50).

I called Costco.com customer service but they weren't sure of the differences between the TC-L47WT50 or the TC-L47DT50 and the "TC-47WT50" (if any). They confirmed (?) that they are selling the "TC-47WT50". They said I'd have to check individual warehouses to see if it was in stock for viewing/pickup. Has anyone seen one of these in a Costco warehouse? Or know an easy way to check warehouse stock?

Any advice? I suppose I could buy it and return it if turns out to be a mis-labeled L47DT50, but I'd rather not waste my time and Costco's money.

Best buy will price match Alltimetv.com and you can get a 47LM7600 for $909. I would recommend the LG set over the WT50 from the general feedback. The black levels on the WT50 are noticeably grey and not the serviceable (blackish) grey, but a cloudy light grey.

I had been leaning towards one of the 47" LGs before this possibly good deal on the Panasonic caught my eye. I've got kids and I think the passive 3D will work better for us.

Do you know or have you read that BB will price match to AllTimeTVs (or East Coast TVs, PowerSellerNYC, or Buy Squad, each of which is listing the 47LM7600 for $905)? Thanks again.

I had tried to price match alltimetvs price on a Samsung tv and they would not do it for me at bb. They said it had to be amazon or a local big box competitors on line prices!

Paul's TV will pricematch alltimetvs with no problems. Plus no tax this weekend at Pauls. I was able to get the LG 47LM7600 for $905 + $5 california recycling.

I was actually in Paul's store today looking at the 47LM7600. They had it on sale for $999. The salesman didn't mention no-tax. Maybe this is a paulstv.com only thing?

Powerswitch, if you go to Paul's TV website, you will see that it's No Tax weekend. I called them up and they verified that they will not charge tax. Plus they will price match alltimetvs. So it was pretty painless. I was debating between this TV, and the Panasonic WT50 that you mentioned. But after reading all the reviews, it seems that the LG 76 series has better blacks than the Panny WT, so that made the decision for me. Plus free 6 pair of glasses as a bonus too, and built-in Plex channel support, which I use a lot.

So anyone pull the trigger on the Costco deal? I'd been leaning toward a ST50 for the past month and this may be what gets me to finally commit if it really is the WT50. I've always thought that the 2012 Panny's were better than their LG price point counterparts when configured right but maybe I was given bad info.

I didn't order the Costco "WT50".

If I had to bet I'd guess they're really shipping DT50's as indicated in the picture and by the price.

I was also concerned by the alleged gray blacks. That and the passive 3d pushed me towards getting an LG instead.

I ended up buying the LG 47LM8600 (at Fry's in-store for $999).

I'll keep watching this thread -- hopefully somebody will have ordered one and will give us an update.

Thanks. Yeah, the LG's do look pretty good especially the 7600 and the 8600. I'll keep on the lookout too as the WT50 would be a steal at this price.

Amazon is selling the 47WT50 for 899. I just ordered one.

Turn on local dimming and black areas will be pitch black. In the menu it is called AI Picture, not local dimming. Just like motion smoothing, LD is not perfect and has drawbacks, but that's just the inherent problems with LCD panels. You will never get true blacks and judderless motion until you have an OLED TV.

In other Panasonic models, turning on AI Picture will crush shadow details and mess up the picture, but not in WT50. In WT50, AI Picture = Local Dimming. I turned it on and shadow details are still very good.

We like it a lot better than our 5 year old Sony Bravia, which has been giving us a lot of trouble lately. We use netflix a lot, so this works out well for us and our google tv kind of looses its relevance for now. My husband especially likes the blue-tooth headset that he is able to pair with the TV effortlessly. We still have a lot of configuring to do.

Sony and Samsung both have uni-lateral pricing in place, so it is much harder for BB to price match those brands. I was told they would not math east coast tv's because they were being investigated by the government for their questionable business practices.

LG as well. :-/ Complete pain in the ass, but I'm certain it's because they're terrified of the Best Buy's (and hence the free showrooms) of the world going under b/c of Amazon and the like. Note: When you read "because of Amazon and the like", always read this as "because of Amazon". smile.gif

We received this TV from costco, mounted it on drywall without stud. Liking it so far even though I havent played with most of the settings yet. Tried to connect my iPhone over bluetooth but somehow nor the iPhone or the TV detects each other, anybody tried pairing phone ?

worked for me. Go to the App first and look for devices. Then go into the Veira settings and look for your iPhone. Pretty sure that's how I did it. Using the Veira2 app btw.

We paired my android phone with it. I use the remote from the Android phone that works. I also paired the Youtube output of the android phone to TV, that works too. We also paired the blue tooth headset to the TV, that works too.

The only problem so far is with skype, some times we have to login a couple of times to be able to successfully start skyping.

HMOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PULEEEZ tell me you're using a mounting anchor designed for that. There's only one that I've ever seen, and it's huge!

Note: you realize that the weight rating for hollow wall anchors are for the anchors themselves and NOT for what you're mounting them to. You can put a 150 pound rated molly into a sheet of paper, and it's still a 150 pound rated molly. And it's still a sheet of paper.
