Video Editing and Laptops - Recommendations?

Hello Everyone,

Wasn't sure if this would be the right spot, but I am curious about whether video editing can be done reasonably well on say a dual-core laptop.

If so, what laptops would work well for light to medium duty video editing (not doing a blockbuster full length film by any stretch), just need something for small projects and capturing video off of old tapes with (camcorder/VHS etc), looking ot ditch the bulky desktop if possible.

I'll preface this with the fact that anything SONY is OFF THE TABLE for me, SONY and I just do NOT get along.

I would say the best dual-core compact laptop for video editing would be the new 13" MacBook Pro with 2560x1600 Retina display . At MacMall you could get 13.3" MacBook Pro (with Retina display)dual-core Intel Core i5 2.5GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB flash storage, Intel HD Graphics 4000 (MD213LL/A) , Free Parellels 8 AR for $1474 . You must apply promo APPINSDRMWB37994 to the right of it before customizing the macbook pro and also must select parellels 8 uninstalled version (its after mail in rebate ).
