epson 3010 vs epson 8350 for (brightness vs lag)

I am replacing an acer 6500 that has gone defective with a bad fan - going to be fixed under warranty but in the end it does not put out enough light for my living room . My room has black out window coverings and still is medium bright with light from other rooms as well. I am considering either the epson 3010 or 8350 as they are within budget and have some decent specs. I thought I was set on the 3010 as far as brightness goes ans the 3d was an added bonus (not required). Then I read some info about it having lag issues when gaming and there was no fix available. So now im torn between the lag issue of the 3010 and the brightness of the 8350. I guess the question is would you rather experience delay with better brightness on the 3010 - or have little to lag with less brightness on the 8350? Is the brightness that much different between the 2? How bad is the delay (kids play some kinect games and I can see that being an issue there)?
Any help/ direction or input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Virg

Don't you think your kids would REALLY enjoy 3D? Lag for a FPS type game may be enough to distract someone, but I think a little lag you might get in a normal type game would be fine when you can now play in 3D. If you can keep the kids from breaking the glasses. smile.gif The 8350 will have less lag, and the added brightness in a light controlled room won't really be needed, so 3D vs better blacks/lag. Ask the kids

Thanks for the input - I am still on the fence tho - how much brighter is the 3010 than the 8350? I am not sold on 3D and that really isnt a tipping point for us. My kids do play fps games and would also like some feedback about the lag when connected with kinect... how bad is it or does it even effect the kinect?
Thanks again for any direction

A brighter pj may cause issues with the kinect I think, depending on how/where it's mounted in relation to the sensors. If you don't care for the 3D capabilities, then the 8350 sounds like a good choice. The 3010 is pretty bright, http://www.eliteprojectorcalculator.com shows at a little over a 13' throw, 13.9 vs 44.3 fl for the 3010. Brighter will allow you to run the pj in eco mode longer as the bulb ages, and allowing you to keep it a little quieter. A couple related threads.
