Help!! 1080i (not p) Not Available In Direct x 10 and Direct x 11

I have a crt rear projection (Hitachi 51uwx20b) connected via hdmi from a 6950 to dvi on the tv and have seen mention of the problem but never a solution.

Basically as soon as i run a dx10 or dx11 game on this screen my display options become limited to a max of 720p (which i believed gets scaled to either 540p or 1080i) which looks horrible in comparison.

A direct x 11 only game is coming out soon and it would be great to get suggestions to resolve this problem for me and others.

Forcing resolution through game ini's hasn't been successfull in my experience.

If the screen has an analog dvi could i resolve the problem using an analog connection?

Is it possible to spoof the games into thinking i have a 1080p screen and then have the graphics card scale it to 1080i?

Is a refresh rate issue like 29hz vs 30hz the likely culprit?

I'm also open to trying programs like Powerstrip as long as it doesn't destroy my screen.

Any help is greatly appreciated, hopefully we can solve this issue once and for all or definetively prove 1080i isn't supported by dx10 and dx11, I'm hoping for the first one biggrin.gif

I found a link for Dead space where someone used radeonpro to set up a 30hz profile and then made 1080p60 available in the amd control panel. So the game thought 1080p was available but was actually outputting 1080i. Is this viable for a dx11 or dx10 game as well?

Any help is appreciated i can't bear playing crysis 3 at a fuzzy resolution.
