Help pick a dsp for cv5000 amplifier

Hey all! Just ordered a cv5000 amp and I need a dsp for my subs. Minidsp looks good and I'm running a marantz sr7005 receiver. Any insight as to which model would be helpful from those of you who own one of these amps.

.....Also I'm looking at which mic to get to use with a laptop to do the calibration.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

No one uses DSPs here on this forum? Kind of a shame tongue.gif

A 2x4 with 2 way advanced plug in should be all you need. How many subs/cv5ks.

BTW, I love the CV5k, I have two and they are fantastic!

Hey thanks ChopShop1. I'm only going with a couple dual opposed boxes with the new 18" Dayton HOs. MrSmithers and Gorilla really seem to have had good luck with the build and I am really excited about getting mine completed. My boxes are basically Gorillas box modified a little with MrSmithers' bracing plus some per his suggestion. So volume will probably be closer to 6.9 cubes sealed.

One CV5000 should power the 4 dayton drivers (hopefully).

It will work out perfectly. I have tested that exactly when trying out stuff for my theater. Run eac channel parallel to two woofers, 2ohm stereo, 1250w per woofer.....big boom biggrin.gif

There are likely more of us around then you think. I know Gorilla uses one as do I. There is a minidsp thread in the DIY area. It's not super active but sometimes it gets going. It is one of those things you get tweaked to your liking and then not touch for a long time.

I also vote minidsp. Nifty gadget and has some features some of the behringer units do not. Can't beat that price either.

Anyone have trouble finding a 12V converter to work with their DSP? I don't see that it comes with one and there has to be a better way than splicing wires right?

Hello! I am building two single driver 4^ft enclosures using the Dayton 18".
Was just exploring the amps to use in my thread over in DIY subs section.
Sounds like the EP4000 can handle 2-driver duty and the CV5000 would be overkill (sounds like a great 4-driver set-up as in your case!), but allow the headroom for future expansion...so I was still kicking that around to future-proof.
Then again, several forumites have pointed out that at $300, I could buy one EP4k, and if not happy, buy a second and bridge the two for $600.

Anyway, I was in the process of ordering a calibrated Dayton UMM-6 mic from Cross-Spectrum, but they don't seem to want to follow up on my order any more.mad.gif
So, calibrated USB Dayton mic seems to be the goal.

Many have suggested the miniDSP route to me as well.

Best with all!

Whoa! Cross Spectrum returned my call. Order has been processed and shipped.
One calibrated Dayton UMM-6 with USB file for that mic, as well as that mic's individual report is now on it's way.biggrin.gif

Ordered the minidsp 2x4 balanced in a box unit. I'm just using Hosa cables and Phoenix connectors as they came pretty well rated from what I've read. Will report once everything gets in and I have a chance to setup and calibrate... Wish me luck lol

MiniDSP 2x4 balanced, EP4000, and UMM-6 arrived yesterday. Will keep updated in my build thread from this point on.
Best to you!
