Ok, so I've been a long time lurker on AVS, specifically this thread. Had to join for the following post.
I just ordered my W900 and here's what pushed me over:
I went to a Magnolia center today and had a hard time deciding between this and the Samsung PNF 8500. The blacks on the Sammy model are just incredible and it gets near LED-LCD bright.
I was so on the fence I couldn't stand it, but being a gamer I decided to forgo ultimate movie quality and go with the best LED available. (Concerned with possible burn-ins and input lag)
I got home and checked the Sony site. The price showing there is now 2300 again. I called Sony to ask if this was temporary change due to a site update and whether or not the "sale" price of 2000 would go back in effect. They gave me a corporate answer and said pricing was based on availability etc, etc. Anyway, my thought is, since BestBuy and other retailers participate in the UPP with Sony, they will be violating their end of the UPP and purchases would not be eligible for the manufacturer's warranty if they continue with pricing at 2000 as opposed to the Sony store price of 2300 (this is assuming Sony will logically change retailers UPP to match their in house price point).
I looked on this thread and expected to see something about this but did not. I went ahead and ordered this at the threat of $300 price increase (coincidentally the panamax power bank that I definitely will pick up specifically for this TV is $300, so I feel like I'm saving myself here).
Anyway, if I'm just coming way out of left field here with this thought process I'm open to corrections (no flame war though), but I felt obligated to bring this to attention if anyone is on the fence and my logic is accurate.
