What To Do

I'm building a house and trying to budget my home theater cost. We decided to get a stone fireplace like the one shown in the image. I understand it isn't the easiest mounting job through the stone. Does anyone have any thoughts on what type of mount to use. I'm looking at purchasing a 50-60" TV haven't figured out what do get yet. I've requested braces behind the fireplace so that the mount will have some wood to go into. It looks like the center channel will rest on the mantle. I'm going to need to find a decent compact center channel that will work well with some in ceiling speakers. I'm all ears for recommendations. Thanks!

What about some 3/4" plywood behind the veneer. Then you can put bolts wherever your like for your mount. You'll still be faced with drilling into your stonework though. How high is he ceiling? Any chance of a ceiling mount of some kind?

Also, you're TV is going to be pretty high to begin with, if your ceilings aren't too high, maybe an in-ceiling center as well? It's certainly not the best setup, but you're forced to make a compromise between having the TV higher and having that center channel where it should go.

Another thought, what type fireplace is that? Any idea on what the clearances are on combustibles? If the mantle is high enough, you might be able to mount your center under it. It's going to get warm, and it will likely cause premature failure, but if you're not looking at high end speakers, it might be a tradeoff you're willing to make. That's sort of a long shot, but it might be worth looking into.

Never thought about the ceiling. I believe they are 10'. The fireplace is a direct vent so it will not go up, but out. I need to figure out how high I want the mantle I guess so that the TV isn't up too high. Good thought.
