Hi all, I have a JVC TH-G31 Home Theatre in a Box system. I've replaced the two front speakers with Fosgates I got from Woot, and all in all it doesn't sound too bad for a HTIB. But the subwoofer really seems below par, very muddy bass. So I've been looking for a replacement. This receiver only has an amplified subwoofer output, so I need a passive subwoofer (right?).
This is my dilemma: there are very few passive subwoofers on the market anymore. I've found several on ebay, but they're all brands I've never heard of, or "subcontractor" subs that claim they only work with their matching amp. Also, buying any kind of speaker I've never listened to seems risky. Can someone give my advice on a decent passive subwoofer I could use with this setup (the Amp specs says it puts out 225W into 3 ohms on the subwoofer channel)?
