PSW505 $190 vs. Bic F12 $187.90

I just bought 2x polk 75t, 25c center, and pair of 45b for surrounds. This all came with a free 8" polk psw111. I am afraid that sub ain't gonna do it for me (even knowing I am coming from a onkyo htib 8" sub). I can sell the psw111.

with that said

psw505 is $190 on newegg and F12 is $187.90 on amazon. I kept hearing good things about the klipsch rw-12d but it is no longer on sale for $300. I really don't want to push to $300 anyways so I am still considering psw505 or f12 even knowing the klipsch is prob what I'd really like, but ya know..wife and budget rolleyes.gif

what's everyone think between 505 and f12 with my my setup? This is all being pushed by Denon 790 avr.

thanks

PSW505

There have been heated discussions over which of those two subs has the edge. I'd lean toward the PSW505. But I don't think you could do wrong with either at the <$200 price.

However, the Klipsch RW-12d has consistently been on sale at least about once a month at Newegg. It is definitely a step up from the PSW505 and BIC F12. You could consider selling your PSW111 and wait for the RW-12d.

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_12_2/polk-psw-505-subwoofer-4-2005.html - Ed Mullen review of 505, little output below 30-35 Hz but still may be reasonable for music and some HT situations. “As expected, room gain helped considerably to improve deep extension, with the Polk holding flat to about 25 Hz, and then dropping to –10 dB at 20 Hz.” Polk sub amps have generally been quite reliable.

You can do a search on Archaea's excellent review of the BIC F12.

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1390563/klipsch-rw-12d-omnimic-frequency-response-graphs - excellent review by Archaea, subwoofer RW-12D has been discontinued by Kliipsch (Oct 2012) but can still be purchased at some retailers. Often listed at $499 or $599 but is a real bargain when sold at $299.

www.data-bass.com has excellent reviews by Josh Ricci of a number of subwoofers including the BIC PL-200 which would be a step up from the F!2 and 505 but not the RW-12D (when at its sale price).

I hope that one note wonder serves you well.

505 is much superior in my opinion.

i don't see how it could be much superior. they are hardly any different spec wise and f12 has more than enough convincing reviews, and I don't listen to any music in the home theater. not to mention wife didn't like the look of the 505.

I upgraded to the RW12D from almost the same setup as you.

Polk M70 Series II, CS2 centre with a PSW111.

I'd skip a step and go for the RW12D for an extra $100. Incredible value for $299 and it will likely go back on sale very soon.
