I agree that the RW-12d is an excellent sub for the price, perhaps the best at $300. But since you have an 8" Kenwood sub right now, either the BIC F12 or PSW505 could still be a worthwhile upgrade, and both are considered best values for HT subs for your budget. If you want more impact in your room, you'd likely be pretty happy.
BTW: the $189 price at Newegg for the PSW505 (promo code EMCXVVW87) is through 2/23. Tends to fluctuate between that around $250. If you want it, you might need to jump on it in the next couple of days.

Then maybe the JBL SUB150 is for you
. $150 with promo code EMCXVWL99 at Newegg. Should have more output than your Kenwood. Here's an AVS member that just got his sub and it seems to be very musical, echoing what people are saying in the Newegg reviews: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1457783/my-head-is-spinning-help-me-decide-on-a-new-sub#post_22979943
If I had to guess, I would bet on it having better SQ than the BIC F12 or PSW505, with maybe a little less max output. Based on a review I read, seems to have a more linear response (a good thing). But this is just an educated guess.
