Need help choosing a receiver in the $600 range

Hi guys,

Moving soon to a new apartment in NYC and am in the process of speccing out a new ht system. My listening space is smallish and I'm getting Cambridge Audio Minx 215 5.1 speakers with a powered sub.

I need to find a receiver that will meet my needs:

1) usage will be about 50/50 split between music & video / TV
2) I am an Internet guy for both my audio and video usage

Here's how I listen to audio:
Pandora
Spotify
Occasionally iTunes

For video:
Xbox (I will be a day-1 buyer of next-gen xbox) - either games, & I also rent movies
Netflix
Amazon Instant Video
YouTube
Aereo (local TV streaming to iPad, only available in NYC)

Things I will plug into my receiver:
Xbox
Roku / Apple TV (probably, unless my new receiver can mate up with my iPad well enough to make this irrelevant)
That's about it. I don't subscribe to cable.
HDMI is a priority.

2 zones is not necessary but it may be of interest down the road.

I'm particularly interested in understanding the Internet capabilities of these new receivers. Ideally I'd be able to mirror audio and video streamed via my iPad but viewed on my TV and heard on my HT speakers. If the receiver can enable this functionality I would be very interested. Budget is flexible but would like to stay under $600 (will go much higher if I can find something w / tight Internet features)

I should clarify one request: I want this receiver to connect to the Internet over Wifi. I hate wires with a passion.

Or at the least if someone can point me to a workaround (Bridge, etc) that will achieve the same result.

The Denon 2113 ($649) would be a good fit for you. You can easily stream audio via Airplay or Spotify. Video would need to be done with DLNA (this receiver is DLNA capable). Honestly, your Roku could do this better. I would also consider the Yamaha 673. If you're ok with refurbished units great deals can be found at accessories4less.com for Denon, Marantz, and Onkyo AVRs.

Receivers in this price range aren't going to have built-in wireless. An airport express is one cheap solution.

Thanks I will check out the Denon.

Curious if anyone knows if the Marantz NR-1603 can power the Cambridge Audio Minx 215 speakers?

It's my first time with a powered sub. These are very small speakers so I figure it would be fine. I am attracted to the slimline design of the Marantz. Square footage is at an extreme premium here in the city, and saving space is key!

Sorry, wrong link. The correct link to the Cambridge Audio Minx 215 is here:

I'm trying to decide between the 215 (smallest system), 315 (same, but with larger sub), or 325 (which has double size satellites and the same sub as the 315).

What about the Onkyo 717?

It's selling for under 600 bucks...I've seen it as low as $499.99.

Lots of features. Lots of power. And you have the ability to hook up another power amp via 'pre outs' in the future if you wish.

Seems like the best bargain going right now.

I can vouch for the Yamaha 673. You would need a $30 bridge to go wireless but it works!
