Can't believe there's only one episode left!
And now a word from our sponsors.... love the special Viking ads that Gieko worked up for this show. Don't see that very often. But is anyone else bothered by the little previews for upcoming scenes in this current episode
that they occasionally slide in there right before they cut to commercials? By the Hammer of Thor, I hate those. I'm already watching the show fergodsake, I don't need to have the upcoming scene spoiled to assure I'll keep from changing the channel. Sheesh.
I too dislike the pointless teasers.
Interesting twist by the writers/producers. I was thinking the scar faced dude with no character development would be the sacrifice, instead they picked one of the stronger characters. I could see how a more pure form of their religion would demand willing sacrificees. It's a strange ritual but I can appreciate the sort of clan bonding that it could engender, not that I yearn to be a part of it. Odd that it has occurred in so many cultures.
I was wondering how they would resolve Athelstan's potential sacrifice. I knew it wasn't going to be the priest saying: "Don't worry bro, I was just playing wich ya! We do that to all the Christians! Oh dude, you should have seen your face!!"
I had a different feeling with Horrick, that he was giving Ragnar the opportunity to cement his bond with him, to ensure his cooperation in further ventures, not to mention a good payday. Pretty wild scene with Horrick in the temple, throwing the rooster/chicken. Anybody have a clue on this Yorteland or Yorkland that Horrick speaks of, the place where he wishes to send Ragnor?
The all night drumming, dancing, etc. scene fueled by magic mushrooms reminded me a good bit of the Rainbow gatherings I've been to. They're a tad ragged but are about the wildest, most primitively exciting scene I've ever landed in. I've been to 3 of the main ones - WA '81, ID '82, and CO '92. Wild time for the priest: shrooms and maybe a popping of the cherry, some good making out at any rate. Didja see the way Siggy's daughter was wiggling her finger on the goblet at him? :-)Edited by cmac2012 - 4/22/13 at 2:47pm
