The Iceland/Greenland immigration was relatively small potatoes in terms of the total Viking populations in Scandinavia.
As it was, they operated more as outcasts than anything else.
However, if real treasure
had been found, my guess is the word would have leaked back to the Homelands and then we would have had those "1000 ships."

If the Indians had been at full strength, it might have been too expensive both in treasure and blood to make a full push for colonization. They might have opted for peaceful trade routes instead. We'll never know.
It is interesting to think about though....
The natives were not ignorant of aggression/violence by any stretch; it was a part of their history and life.
Since Vikings usually tried to steal before
deciding to use discretion, there probably would have been serious blows thrown.
Who knows how that would have turned out?
