Need CEC, ARC advice for Vizio E701i-A3 and Onkyo TX-NR616

I just got these two components, Onkyo TX-NR616 and Vizio E701i-A3, a couple weeks ago. The main reason I got the Vizio was it had an Amazon Prime app. Everything runs through the Onkyo with only the main HDMI (ARC) out to the Vizio main HDMI (ARC) input, that's only cable to the TV. I didn't want to run an optical cable to the receiver. Long Story short, after a lot of screwing around, I finally had this connection working using CEC . I was able to watch Netflix, Amazon, blah, blah, with sound coming from TV's HDMI cable to receiver with TV/CD selected on the Onkyo. I took everything apart to rearrange components and ARC audio hasn't worked since. Any clues or help is appreciated.

yeah, i think it may be that, since I'm pretty sure it's all set up correctly. i did power it down, but maybe i will experiment with different power on sequence or time in between, idk. it really blows because i had it working so i know it can be done. now i can't give up, lol.
