Can someone please explain how these sound panels operate? (pictures provided)

We purchased a new house last week and I didn't even notice these panels before we bought the house. There are 3 panels with 4 plugs and then 2 other panels with only 2 plugs. I know they are for sound, but I have no idea how to even use them.

Help anyone?? Thanks!

The idea behind wall plates like that is that one set will be near the receiver or amplifier and connected using speaker wire, either bare, with banana plugs or with spades.

The other side will be near the speakers and connected the same way.

I'm not sure about the hand written markings. Each Red and Black terminal pair will connect one speaker.

So I'm still a little confused. if I connect speakers to a panel on one side of the room without connecting them directly to the reciever, how do they interact with what I'm playing on the reciever? I just don't get it.

They don't. You HAVE to have an amp on one end and a speaker on the other.

Unless of course those are inputs and you have speakers mounted in the sheetrock so they can't be seen.
