Credentials in hand, I anxiously await admittance to the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center in NYC for what is widely expected to be the unveiling of the Playstation 4. The press credentials reveal nothing. The excitement is palpable as I wait in the lobby of the Hotel Ace with perhaps one hundred of my peers, filing first reports and making sure our gear is charged and ready.
The Playstation 3 established itself as the most sophisticated of the big three consoles. Between the Wii, X-box and PS3, only Sony included features that made their console a powerhouse movie playback machine. The PS3 remains the only console capable of playing Blu-rays. Hopefully tonight we will find out if the Playstation 4 continues this tradition, builds upon on it or perhaps Sony manages to surprise us with an innovation or two.
edit - Sony did not want to show or discuss the Playstation 4 hardware at their Playstation event on 2/20/13. They did want to show off the graphics it is capable of:
