Playstation 4 will use GDDR5 with a GPU that can run as a general purpose computing device. The architecture is meant to cover a breadth of experiences. A premium is placed on power and simplicity, as well as immediacy. Eliminating lag time between the consumer and their content is a major engineering goal.

Gaikai: "pay for what you love only?"

Is he talking about SHARING CLOUD-BASED GAMES then the buddy can buy it if he loves it?

That would be freaking awesome, lending games to friends...

Specifics on media streaming partnerships will not be announced until later this year. Sony says they will build the fastest global network in the world.

No talk about BD media yet or drive.

So far no mention of an optical drive. A strong emphasis is put on connectivity and networking.

We are only halfway into the 2-hr show, media hub comes at the end, I bet... There wasn't a single pic of the console itself, for a reason, I bet.

Graphics are impeccable, likely 1080/60p. never a glitch, no aliasing artifacts. Perfect. Amazing out-of-focus effects. I have a nice PC, this beats it.

Very cool!

Games games games... no specifics, just flash... and more P.R. blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda... get to the home theater part already!!! Argh!

If they tied this into the introduction of the next 4k Blu-ray XL with object-oriented surround then they could push what these games could do with object oriented audio for even more 3D aural immersion.

Hey push your emotions to the breaking point and create even more youngsters who are numb to violence in the real world.

CGI so realistic, characters look like movie actors, with true expression of emotion.

CNN already reported: "With these guts serving as the PS4's central brain, the console is capable of pushing graphics at 4K resolution, or supporting stereoscopic 3D in full 1080p for high definition televisions. That means it'll likely be ready for the next five to 10 years of living room display technology." - source: cnn

Funny how a large part of this event is talking about how great streaming/downloading games is and how they will be integrating it into their console and they can't even stream the event lol.

imagic please ask the question about 3d and if the console is fully compatible with an ssd (solid state drive) and if it supports the read and write speeds, also if you would still be able to install disc games onto the hdd just like the ps3 does.

Sorry folks, there is no home theater angle. No hard specs. No mention of an optical drive. This show was an advertisement for launch titles.
