Thread Starter
just got a 660 evga card a few weeks ago, love it ,
updated to newest drivers...
a few days ago got a optional update 228mb for my card from microsoft

it says nvidia graphics adater wddm1.1, graphics adapter wddm1.2, other hardware nvidia geforce gtx 660

so , do I need to install this ?
are there any benifits for this software ? or is it the same thing that's on nvidias website...

thanks in advance

The common thought process here is to avoid gpu drivers from MS through Windows update and instead use the ones offered by Nvidia/AMD.

Usually the latest WHQL drivers make their way to Windows Update. If your interest is the least amount of hassle, then the Windows Update version is just fine. This is great for a person that tends to buy games on a Steam sale six months after release. If your interest is keeping up with the latest beta drivers because you buy games on launch day, then get the latest drivers directly from Nvidia's site.

In this case, Nvidia drivers that are three weeks old are like four revisions back. New WHQL drivers were released mid-last-week. I'd guess that you are running month-old betas that Windows Update now wants to move to the fresh official release.
