Eh. Apple actually has excellent customer service and excellent customer experience. But they sure do charge a premium for it.

Hell, it's mostly what they are selling in the first place. And they're making boatloads of money.

One example? How many companies are out there and you choose an ultra premium example. Cartier has great customer service too. My butler has excellent customer experience as well as my helicopter pilot. Best Buy, not so much.

It has absolutely nothing to do with gaming, or A/V equipment, but USAA has the most amazing customer service I've ever experienced. Although it's exclusive to a certain set of folks, it's not had at a premium.

Is there any news out there about the cross-game chat feature? I am wondering if it will just be a one on one chat, or if it will be like party chat on xbox. As silly as this sounds, it will be a determining factor for me.

I found that video funny:

And this one:

So it should go.

PS4 1080p 60fps
XBone 1080p 30fps
Wii U 720p 30fps
360/PS3 SubHD Sub 30fps

Once devs start shifting to newer hardware and Wii U ports shift from quick and dirty 360 conversions to actual PC/PS4/XBone ports this is where I see the dust settling until the 360 and PS3 are no longer needed for the sales volumes requred to make a profit. By that time Nintendo should be demoing new hardware for their next system. (in 2016 at the earliest with a 2017 launch planned) I have a theory on the direction they are going that I will post in the Wii U thread soon.

You may be right, and I was even thinking this yesterday. Nintendo could always take a beating on the Wii U, but in a couple years come out with a new system that would rival or even top the PS4 and XBO. It's just a question of if they actually do this.

At the moment it's looking to be more like:
PS4 1080p 60fps
XBone 1080p 30fps
Wii U Title not available
360/PS3 SubHD Sub 30fps

The internet proclaimed the 3DS dead too, now it has claimed the title of fastest selling game device ever.

i think the ps4 will be/should cheaper out the gate because it gets $ for every xbox one sold due to the blu ray player right?

Sony will get pennies per system sold due to bluray playback royalties which they split with over a dozen other companies.

An old article on BD royalties.

Is the WiiU selling fast?

At launch it sold increadibly fast (up there with the Wii and PS2), then slowed to a crawl. The 3DS picked up when 3D Mario launched and the Wii U should do the same.

Please Sony, don't mess this up!

I'm firmly in the PS4 camp (coming from an Xbox 360) and really want to give you my money. But, if you're as draconian as the XBone, then I guess I'll move to PC.

PC is already more draconian than the worst the x1 has suggested. frown.gif

They got DVD drive and disc royalties as well. Not much has changed.

Bluray concerns were always red herrings by fanboyism, at least after MS dropped their vested interest in a HD format.

Nope. While there are a lot of companies that take a part of the royalties for every Blu-ray player sold, they in no way take an equal share. Sony and Phillips invented the format, so they naturally take far bigger cuts, along with Panasonic who hooked up with them later.

In Sony's case, they get $2.25 per Blu-ray hardware sold ($3 if it the device can record as well). Sony also gets either 1.5% of the price of each Blu-ray disc sold or $.03 - whichever is greater.

Better than I thought it would be. No wonder Nintendo passed on licensing the tech and instead tweaked it slightly.

Housemarque is working on two PS4 titles, including a Super Stardust "spiritual successor":
Quote:
Housemarque, the award winning developer of downloadable hit titles such as Dead Nation, Outland and Super Stardust HD, announced they are hard at work on a (still unnamed) “spiritual successor” to the Super Stardust franchise. The game will be released as a PlayStation®4 (PS4) exclusive.

“We are super excited to be working on Sony’s next-gen hardware,” said Housemarque’s CEO Ilari Kuittinen. “The platform’s performances are enabling us to do things that wouldn’t be possible otherwise and we truly believe that better technology can lead to better gameplay. The more tools and resources we have at our disposal, the better. Think of Super Stardust HD: at the time, PlayStation 3 gave us the opportunity to populate the game with thousands of interactive objects and implement the game’s famous ‘spherical gameplay’. Today, we can take advantage of the architecture of PlayStation 4 to create incredible visuals with direct impact on the way the new game feels.”

Following a long-standing tradition of partnerships with Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Europe, Housemarque is currently busy with the above-mentioned title along with another unannounced PS4 project. More information on both games will be released in the upcoming months.

I'm really pulling for Sony to pull ahead the next generation, but looking at the page count of the respective posts across both forums, I feel like momentum is going to carry Microsoft.

I really thought very highly of most of what Sony had to say, and I thought MS's presentation was awful.

You do realize that the thread in the XBox forum has been going for 27 months and this one has been going for about 3, right?

That and this isn't the only forum out there. Hell, there are plenty of gamers that never even go to forums. Which ever one gives me the best over all experience will be the one I invest in heavily. I may still end up with both consoles, but I know that I won't just buy a XBO just because my friends are getting one. I don't get a ton of time to game, so I won't make an investment in a console that I can't get fully behind.

Well you mean in the USA. Sony won this generation again if we're going by hardware sales, they just dd it without the US (Which increasingly seems to be relevant to all media). MS seems to have 100% abandoned the world market by pushing this entertainment platform that isn't going to work abroad, or is going to need major costly tweaks in vision and in policy to work outside of the US.

That said, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. If Sony thinks they can charge $50-60 for used game licenses and take away ownership of physical media, I'm walking.

I got better things to spend my money on then anti-consumer corporate *******s looking for a cash grab.

I'm with this guy. It may be time for me to give up gaming...

Edit: to be fair, they are not losing much from me. My gaming time has been reduced to hardly any already as there just doesn't feel like there is anything new or fresh out there right now.
