PlayStation 4 - Page 85

They need more than 2 USB ports.

Or at least have one in the back for the camera.

well, that was fast. KZ and plus is gone

I am pretty sure there is an aux port in the back for the camera.

Yep, you can clearly see the AUX port (and every angle of the console) in the 3D model viewer I just linked to.

Can't see it on my phone...is it obvious where the HDD bay is?
It is not obvious.

Developers seem to be confirming on twitter that all PS4 1st party titles were demo'd on actual PS4 consoles. That's Great news if true.
So they have production ready PS4s already... makes you wonder if they could hit an October launch...

Sensei exec Yoshida has a battle of accents in this interview with a German games journalist (they both do a good job with English, all things considered). Some of the tidbits revealed:

- The PS4's small size is because its low power needs (compared to the launch PS3), which doesn't require the same bulky cooling system.

- Noise levels are lower than OG PS3, but fingers are crossed for the final dB levels.

- Trophy synching on the PS4 will not be behind the PS+ pay wall like it is for the PS3. Everyone gets auto synching.

- Slightly suggests that the camera could be bundled in the future

- Move will be part of the PS4 (it was absent at E3) and get even better support. Slightly suggests there may be Move support added in titles Sony is launching (i.e., KZ:SF?). Great news since I am playing through inFamous 2 with the Move and it is the best representative of this peripheral in an action game and has made it a lot of fun to play.

- More playable PS4 games to be available in two months at GamesCom.

It be easier to get to their 11 million sold by Q1.

As for the HDD, there seems to be some sort of snap in port in the bottom of the consoles, but the console is only 2-3 inched high laying flat, so I don't think it can be the HDD bay. My guess is the HDD bay is on the right edge of the console when laying flat, which is the side we haven't seen yet as far as I know. It basically becomes the bottom when putting the console vertically, which hides it.

The only side of the PS4 that can not be seen is the left side (if it were placed flat horizontally). This is because the model viewer shows the console on the vertical stand so it is covered up. My guess is that the HDD is swapped there.

EDIT: I'm a few minutes too late with the info!

I wonder if one of those top panels pops off to give access to the interior.

^^^ Haha, that's too funny. My guess is we'll see the first Move stuff at GamesCom. I think almost all companies were keeping focus off of camera games at E3 because of the government spying news stories.

Yeah, I read Knack's demo had a glitch which knocked the game back to the PS4 development operation system for a reboot. Besides that, we know that most development was done on early kits. The tech in launch games, especially 1st party, is not bad at all considering it'll take time to fully flesh out what the PS4 can do now that they have improved kits. Plus, Sony said at their unveiling event that the dev kits will get additional advanced tools that make it easier to code closer to the metal and take better advantage of the compute functions of the GPU down the line.

I have to wonder if they had final hardware or if it was underclocked at E3 and just how much time devs have had with the final chipset in the machine.

I also have to wonder which XBone demos were running on a PC...

It's fine if that's the case, but I have a feeling Madcatz is after money and doesn't want to bother solving the issue.

A friend of mine works for Madcatz and he says that it is an unfortunate situation that the company did not purposely create. There is no simple fix for it, so at this time their sticks will not work on the PS4.

You can move inside the boxes, nothing in there so obviously Sony has implemented black hole technology. smile.gif

EDIT: The hard drive is going to be one of the greatest heat generators so I suspect it is directly behind one of those rear vents

I can't decide if I want to switch to the BF4 or Watchdogs bundle. Guess I'll do the BF4 since it does save a little money on PS+.

Not much time it seems. In that visually stunning real-time PS4 tech demo of The Dark Sorcerer (watch it in 1080P!), the developer said they had no time to use PS4 tools when making it. They mostly used their PS3 toolset from Two Souls: Beyond, "shoving in high quality assests" and its not optimized at all. The PS4 title they are working on (Dark Sorcerer won't be a game) will take much greater advantage of what the machine can do. That's pretty amazing.

Here's a developer video of this discussion of the demo, starting near the 14 minute mark. Money quote: "Our demo was like CG quality five years ago, and its running in real time."

Anyone know if this one will be controllable via the ethernet connection... For functions other than gaming ie watching movies and streaming?
in an Interview Sony mentioned that they may delay launch in Asia because of the overwhelming demand in the US. So this may be whats gong on.
Since the units are not region locked it seems like an easy decision to reallocate hardware. (just need to change the packaging) I think they want to make sure that no one goes wanting this holiday

EDIT: They are taking a big risk in doing this. The only thing that can stop this train is MS . If they waited just before the PS4 launch to announce a complete reversal of their policies it could cause Sony big problems. Sony must feel pretty confident after hearing how arrogant the MS leadership is that this will not happen for them to reallocate that HW. it will be an interesting few months

Thats pretty amazing if true. Maybe Capcom wasn't lying about Deep Down being running in engine..

After thinking, I went with the Watch Dogs bundle. BF4 is a game that I think I'd actually prefer to have the digital download version because I'll probably be jumping in and out of it more often then other games. I'm sure PS+ cards will go on sale somewhere between now and launch.

I also went ahead and canceled the pre-order I had at BB. I don't want to be one of those guys who try's to rip someone off on eBay to make a quick buck. Just feel like it is more fair that someone else have a chance at getting one at the normal price then paying double on ebay.

You could also sell your extra PS4 to a friend who misses out on launch day.

How impressed have game makers been with the PS4 since it was first revealed? A NeoGAFer pointed this passage out from Sony'PS4 s press sheet:
Quote:
PS4 has earned great support from a wide variety of game publishers, including many indie developers. Since February 2013, the number of developers joining has increased from 126 to 505.
If a friend can give me $410 I will sell them my extra PS4. I make $10 on the deal and they get a launch system at less than retail.

Eh, consoles aren't food or medicine. I have no problem with a seller making some extra dough in a supply/demand scenario of a luxury item.
I refuse to scalp, I have had to deal with it in the past ($450 for a Wii 2 weeks after launch) and I want no part of it. A $10 handling fee is more than enough.
