PlayStation 4 - Page 87

Another recomendation for the PS3.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (includes all DLC and the expansion)

Easily my favorite game this gen on the HD systems. Combat by the Devil May Cry team, an awesome villain that you hate, but at the same time is so awesome that you don't want to kill him, and a very powerful ending. The pawn system is sort of an AI coop system, you create a main character you play as (using a very deep toolset) and a AI helper that can be rented by others and actually nets you in game rewards for doing so. The music is also amazing, and fitting, the final battle against the Dragon has one of my favorite boss tracks and the main theme of the game "Eternal Return" was written for the game and it shows. The combat has one awesome gimmick, you can climb on enemies and attack them. No more QTE to take down a Cyclops. There is one minor sequence using QTE, but it kinda makes sense and I have yet to fail it in 10+ playthroughs.

The game has shortcomings, the plot all but vanishes after the intro until you finally meet face to face after 20-40 hours and all the quests between feel useless. On repeat playthroughs some stuff will click but not enough. The side characters are also bland and uninspired. The romance system... is broken, have fun getting feste or fornival on repeat playthroughs.

Pay when it ships, you have zero money down and can cancel at any time without any issue.

When you look at games like TitanFall,… have you gone through Titanfall yet? Enough said. Conversation over.

LOL biggrin.gif It's an exclusive...... sorta.....

They should really hire someone to talk for them. They just don't get it.

Dragon's Dogma - Check! Another one for the list

MS really has an uphill battle. I'm glad to hear the PS4 demos were running on the actual PS4 hardware. Nothing worse than seeing game demos and getting all hyped up only to find out the actual game doesn't look anything like the demo.

I'd like to check this out sometime as well. I didn't know this game was open world until just recently. Is it real open world, like Skyrim, or more like a bunch of areas connected by corridors?

Not fully open like Skyrim, but not closed in either.

If you're new to the PS3 scene, the God of War games are also quite fun and enjoyable. All games in the series are available on the PS3, and if you are coming from the XBox 360 camp, this series of games is what the game Dante's Inferno HEAVILY copied. (Though I still have to admit, I LOVED Dante's Inferno on the PS3. Got it for quite cheap during a PSN sale a few months back. My first, and still only, Platinum trophy on the PS3). The MGS Series was already mentioned earlier, and that is one hell of a series of games that is playable on the PS3.

As for the price of the console, I find it ironic that I just re-financed my house and my monthly mortgage payment dropped by $410 each month. Hmmm. Sounds like the cost of the PS4. Lol. Sony must have been paying attention to my finances. tongue.gifbiggrin.gif

It's your destiny to experience the "Greatness" then lol.

@JPA A few games took so much of my time during this gen that I have a LONG list of PS3 games that I must experience before getting a PS4, here are some of 'em:

- Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, those are definitely on the top of my list, I LOVE difficult/rewarding games (that aren't stupid) and RPGs too so I must play 'em, I might play Dark Souls on PC though.
- Tomb Raider
- Valkyria chronicles
- Limbo, nice little PSN game lol, liked the demo
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution (probably will play this on PC too)
- Heavy Rain
- Assassin's Creed 2, I thought AC1 was pretty bad but heard good things about AC2, not so much about the rest of the series though lol
- BioShock 2 & 3, I thought 1 was great
..etc

I already purchased some of 'em, just got to stop playing some of the games I'm too addicted to and finish those lol

Then there are Upcoming games that I want to play, I can't imagine getting a PS4 before completing FFXIII-3 which comes out in freaking February 2014.

60 FPS and 64 players confirmed for the next gen version of Battlefield 4. That is awesome.

If they want to make any money, they will definitely put their games on PS4 at some point. I bet they're regretting that timed exclusive deal after this E3. I don't think I've ever seen such bad publicity for a product before. MS is good at falling on their faces and picking themselves back up again, though, so I'm sure it'll be fine in the end. But for the short term, they've got to be regretting that decision. Unless MS gave them a pile of cash up front, that is.

Yeah, I wish they had front and back. Front is great for plugging in USB stick and controllers to charge....rear would be much better for more permanent stuff like drive addons. That's gonna look pretty ugly if you've got an external HDD always chained to the front of the system.

I remember back in 05, I was at e3 when they were showing off the xbox 360....and MAN, those games ran like garbage. I'm talking like 15 fps slideshows, and they were running off of giant power macs with god knows what inside them. I just assumed running on a PC based dev kit would be par for the course at e3, so this story never really had any traction with me. But a 7 series Nvidia card? That's.....optimistic. I still wonder why Sony was able to get final devkits up and running, but MS couldnt. I wouldnt jump as far ahead as to say that the X1 demos weren't representative of the final product though.

I guess you're right. It's just another data point that makes it look like Sony really had their act together, but MS was caught with their pants down. It's just perception, and may have nothing to do with reality, but MS is just getting buried with bad press. That latest interview with Major Melson was a rambling mess, and there's just no end in site.

Sony wasn't suppose to release their PS4 until 2014 so MS should have been light years ahead. I'm fine seeing slightly unfinished games at E3 , but for a game system scheduled to be launched in 5 months you'd think things would be running on something with the same graphic specs.

All MS needed to do was to do was to say that the Dev kits were not meant to travel and they didn't want to risk them getting damaged while the developers were still using them so they used modified PC's for the show. But when MS deflects or says nothing it just sparks suspicion. With all of the rumors of the overheating ESRAM could that have been the reason for the PC's ?

it won't matter in a few months, but they sure aren't doing themselves any favors.

This is what really P*sses people off.. If I wanted Steam I'd stick with PC. This is a console.

EDIT: If MS had released their launch titles at $29.99 insteasd of $59.99 it would have at least given proof of concept. They don't have control over the publishers prices so it doen't look like anyone is playing ball yet.

With almost 300,000 votes cast, the readers have spoken. 81% of you thought Sony won E3. Microsoft came in second with 12% of you saying they took the E3 crown and Nintendo rounded out the voting with 7% of the vote.

I can't stand that every time something negative comes out its because they are "bad at telling our story". It's not your story; it's your product.

Thats the problem when you try going in every direction at once, even going so far as totally upending how people traditionally have used your product. And then you tell people that have concerns about it to not buy it and buy your legacy product.

Yeah, that have a big problem and hopefully people waiting will force them to keep it simple and head toward a more consumer friendly stance.

If Skyrim had released with a $70 or $80 price I would not have bought it. Of course, this is why I use GameFly becaus I think most games are overpriced.

It amazes me how many gamers seem so worried about the publisher's and developer's bottom line. I love movies but I've never seen movie fans worry about the studios bottom line and wish for higher ticket prices to help them out with the inflated budgets.

I'm not terribly worried about them, because they need to make it work or I can just walk away. But with that said, when I get 200-300+ hours of entertainment out of a single game, I do sometimes feel like a higher price is justified. A 10 hour SP experience? No way.

Games are vastly cheaper than at any point int he industry due to inflation eating away at their real value; while at the same time development costs have gone up. If game prices kept up with inflation we'd be paying $75 for disc formats. Cartridges were more expensive to make, but if they were still around it be like paying $130 in 2012 dollars.

I'd rather both sides give a little on these things, then see the consoles makers pull out all the draconian BS like MS did.

Just got back in from camping this weekend; I see the whole craz about the new PS4 bundles. The launch day version of the console w/ BF4 is still avail so I punched it through; but for some reason I'm all antzy about it. I got a regular launch day PS4, I feel like there is going to be some sort of snafu ..... to save only 10 bucks. Hrm.
add to that the population in this country is growing. Back in the day you had to look in catalogs and magazines to see what was coming out or just trolll the stores to see what was there. There wasn't this ability to be able to reach almost every household within minutes.

So regardless the price of inflation the sales potential makes up for it. The Apple .99 cent store is a prime example. Who ever thought you could make money selling your product for a dollar.

If someone wants to get Samuel Jackson to do a voice over for a game then thats on the developer. I don't care who is doing the voices. developmental time has certainly increased sue to the complexity of today's games. Time is money but big budgets are not necessary unless they are trying to hurry a product to market.

I hope companies like Capcom enjoy waiting a year to recoup their losses , they took MS blood money and now they will pay for it.

I really liked my XBox 360, but i'm not willing to fund MS's little DRM science experiment just because their last console was a god one.

This is why I am planning on sitting out the Xbone for a few years to see what happens. I may get in later as the price drops and long term plans are more clear. As of now, there are some games they will have that I will want. We will see but I did order a PS4 BF4+ package.

That's significant! Graphics are still a big part of next gen, so a noticeable difference OUT THE GATE will push people towards the PS4.
