What is the lead platform, because at E3 they showed it off on the Xbox.

They showed a non descript trailer at the Xbox press event, which was most likely running on a PC. Everything they have shown was running on a PC and they have always favored PCs. My guess is they won't even start porting the game until a system's dev kit is finalized in both hardware and software. This explains the 2014 launch and gives them the advantage of not having to rush to meet a launch deadline.

Yep, pretty much everything was on PC for Xbone and PS4. A handful of exceptions of course.

The PC would be definitely the Witcher's lead platform, always has been. Have you seen how much difference there is between the console builds and the PC on their older games?

The additional memory available to games on the PS4 is really going to help with all open world games.

Most of the games Sony showed at E3 were running on PS4 dev kits or the actual hardware. It is why they had stability issues with games like AC4 and Watch Dogs, they rushed the demos to show them running on the actual hardware. (It is also why Sony games had framerate issues, most of the games were using much older builds that they spent time getting running on the final hardware, which they most likely got less than a month before E3)

Final Fantasy XV is probably the only game at Sony's press event that was running on a PC that showed actual gameplay.

Interesting poll numbers from around the world.

PS4 Takes 75% Of The Vote In Worldwide Voting Poll

Polls don't tell the whole story of course, but I literally have no doubt that PS4 will dominate the global market hard for many different reasons, the only market I see Xbone having some hope in is USA.

As for the Witcher 3, of course it'll run And look best on PCs.

They said they've had console Dev kits for a while and have been tinkering, but yes, waiting for the final ones. The trailer was from the PC version

Plenty of framerate issues on the MS side too. It's too early to split those hairs. The one constant I kept hearing was about the visual fidelity being very noticeable and not translating to any pics or videos that came out. This is a hopeful sign.

I'm sure they have builds running on both console's dev kits, but until both kits are finalized there really isn't much point in doing a lot of work. Don't want to risk spending a few weeks optimizing code around something and the final kit making that code worthless in one way or another.

Mouse and Keyboard support coming to Battlefield 4 PS4!?

http://gamingbolt.com/battlefield-4-dice-considering-keyboardmouse-support-for-the-ps4-version

Can't copy and paste because my phone disagrees with it and mobile avs is acting stupid right now.

If added, I really hope they have the option for controller only servers, because MK players would trash controller players in gunfights.
Exactly, I hope this will be only be for single player and not multiplayer, we don't want to split the community, mouse support in such console multiplayer game is a terrible idea.

If they have to add it to multiplayer, then it should DEFINITELY be Only allowed in Mouse/KB servers.

Exactly, that would cause a huge unfair advantage. Although I have no idea how they would implement a MK only server. Would they have a system check to see if your using a M&K before joining the server?
Maybe they will let PS4 mouse/keyboard players on PC servers? Cross platform servers would be great, bolsters numbers by heaps.

Even though as infantry M/K would have a definite advantage (I still don't believe the people that say there isn't), in vehicles(especially in the air) there would be an advantage to use the controller.

What does keyboard and mouse support get you over a controller? I have no idea since I stopped using those for games awhile ago.I used to be comfortable with a keyboard and mouse for games until I switched to consoles in 2005. Now the idea of a keyboard and mouse is foreign to me. I tried World of Tanks last week with a keyboard and mouse and it was just terrible using those for controls.

Also, apparently Respawn chose the Source engine for Titanfall because they were impressed how well it played with PS3:

Digital foundry did a rundown, and it's not too impressive IMO. Never been a big fan of slow moving, twitch hit-scan shooters. From the sounds of it, Titanfall is going to be a very basic shooter technology wise. No physics, no ragdolls, pre-canned animations and everything has been simplified to streamline the netcode it seems.

What about Titanfall looks slow moving to you? *looks up, notices this is the PS4 forum* Oh, never mind.

Even if they did have something to detect mouse and keyboard, people will try hard to bypass it someway, like switch to KB/Mouse when the match begins or something tricky to fool the system.

I'm sure DICE must be aware about the M/KB advantage over a traditional console pad in shooters, DS4 users will feel like they're using a knife in a gunfight lol. I highly doubt they'll be stupid enough to let mouse players join any game like it's nothing, my guess is that they won't add the feature in the first place because it's just asking for trouble, M/KB warriors can just play the PC version.

Compared to old school twitch shooters like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament it is quite slow. Compared to CoD it is quite similar in speed, just more vertical. Otherwise it is quite fast compared to something like Battlefield.

Everything?

Issue is more the hit-scan weapons and lack of any realism in shooting mechanics.

MKB might be kind of cool but I doubt many people are going to play that way leaning over a coffee table. The keyboard gives you a lot more buttons to map and the mouse a lot more sensitivity. So FPS on PC are a lot easier to aim since your movement is a lot more refined. Technically the PS4 is a PC in specs but I wonder how that would translate to drivers and the sensitivity settings. Meaning a mouse could be toned down to controller quality to even the playing field.

I've been out of PC play for close to a decade and haven't really kept up on the finer points of things but I did try and go back a bit in the last year and MKB is decent but I can't get away from the controller now. As foreign as it was to start with, MKB is now that way to me.

Realism??? Isn't it a video game?
An awful lot of console gamers don't subscribe to there being advantages in first person shooters with keyboard/mouse control.

But I've never been able to enjoy online first person shooters with a gamepad. I can deal with it with the usually slower and more deliberate pace of a single player campaign but need the speed, precision, and accuracy of keyboard/mouse control to enjoy online multiplayer.

So I hope this is the start of a trend at long last for console first person shooters. The Sega Dreamcast had several first person shooters (And other games) with keyboard and mouse support. But since then, I believe only Half-Life on the Playstation 2 and Unreal Tournament III, Dust 514, and Counter-Strike on the Playstation 3 have.

All FPS games use to be twitch shooters, I remember the first time I played Halo. Felt like my feet were in molasses, playing underwater with someone hitting my head with a dull mallet

Sounds like my first experience with Halo as well. Thanks to my Quake experience it only took a month to get used to dual analog controls and clear most of the game on Legendary (never could finish the Library, that final run to the finish always got me, soon as I had to reload I would die)

UT3 on PS3 was refreshing when it came out, but even it felt so slow compared to the old games.

Read the link as the title is misleading.

Looks like Sony is beggining to reign in preorders, which means they are getting close to their production estimates. We could see a new record for fastest selling game hardware if Sony hits the ground running with 4-6 million units at launch worldwide.

I actually had a good time with Unreal Tournament III on the 360...still have the game to.

In respect to Titanfall...it's a game that won about every category it was in yet doesn't have a history, a series, not a single copy sold, no single player and it's the one game it seems MS and XO fans are hanging their hat on. Today on another forum I'm on, there's a topic..."what are you playing this month"...and someone who has a 360, PS3 and PC was playing "Planetside 2". I asked him to report back on what he thinks...which he did today...and said the game is a blast and just unreal to play. He only got it after some of us brought it up on the PS4 topic when it was announced it was going to be on the PS4.

Titanfall might have won all sort of E3 awards and grab gamer site praise but I feel Planetside 2 is a real sleeper for the PS4. no-one is really talking about it because it's a PC game and I wouldn't be surprised more than 65-70% console players have even heard of it. It's yet to be finalized as to player limits, customization, maps but if even comes lose it'll drawf Titanfall. Maybe I'm wrong but maybe us future PS4 owners might also have the last laugh.

If that's what you're looking for then you shouldn't be gaming on a console. Clearly, you're elite and should be doing all your gaming on a gold plated PC. cool.gif

And I still have zero clue as to what a "hit-scan" weapon is. As for realistic shooting mechanics -- did you miss the part where this game has mechs in it? Pretty sure that means they really don't care too much about realism.

You should probably just build a gaming rig and illegally download a copy of Arma 3 (pretty sure PC players stopped paying for games five or six years ago) and you should be all set. I know, my advice is amazing and I should charge for it. But what can I say, I'm a generous guy.

TitanFall doesn't have mechs.
