The Vita isn't doing that well, so I don't see a demand for this at all. Especially since Vita games aren't even running at 720p @ 30 FPS, who wants to see that on a "60 screen ?

I love games but the Vita does nothing for me. If I'm at home with a PS4, why the hell would I want to play a handheld ? When I'm not at home, I have no desire or time to play games.

Nah, hardwired will be the way to go.

YES another person who has the same feeling as me!! I feel the same, it's a hard sell for me for reasons you stated.. I only found out last week that with the Vita every game has a remote play feature which I did not know about..

Nothing I have seen so far makes the vita worth it to me.. as much as I want it to sell well I just don't see anything making me want to buy it.

In preperation for launch I am going back to some PS3 launch titles... Untold Legends looks terrible now, hopefully Resistance holds up better when I play a bit tonight.

Pop in GTA4. It'll make your eyes bleed.

Didn't like it then, won't like it now.

If I play any mid gen PS3 game again it will be Tales of Vesperia. I tried to start a new Mass Effect run, but I just wasn't feeling it, graphics still hold up though.

Resistance looks awful. Very plain and not much texture. What I've played of 2 looks better. I gave up on the first years ago when COD:MW came out and looked better. That and R1 was hard. Picked up the trilogy a couple weeks ago in hopes to catch up in case of a PS4 release then read its over after R3. Oh well. Going to finish it anyway has a cool story.

I never played three because I heard the big twist at the end of two is never resolved. I played Resistance 1 through because it was a fun challenge, but it is way too long for a full replay. I plan to play through the spires portion to get a feel for it, then comes an Oblivion run of the Dark Brotherhood.

MGS4 remains pretty sexy to my eyes, Kojima sure unlocks the potential of consoles pretty damn quickly, same thing with MGS2/PS2 which remains great visually even to this day, but of course the textures are still pretty bad in MGS4 which is the case with even the latest AAA PS3 games, that's one thing I hope to see less of in PS4.

Once you play regularly on mid-high end PCs, the amount of crappy AF, AA, textures and FPS you notice on consoles is unbelievable, almost to the point you wish you didn't play on such PCs lol.

As for games that didn't age well, TESIV:Oblivion, I spent 200+ hours on that game and when I run it these days I'm pretty shocked at how I once thought this game had great graphics lol

I played through the 360 version again mid 2012 to get some achievments that were erased when I joined Live, even with the latest patch and full install you could tell how rushed Bethesda was and why they aren't too keen on creating launch window titles. The added year of dev time the PS3 version got really shows.

It still has its charms graphically I think. Some of the vistas on the side of mountains and such are still pretty stunning today I think even if they're not as impressive technically as they once were.

It's the character animation that I think has aged poorly. And the pop up and slight graphics lag before things filled up correctly sometimes when transitioning from one area to another always kind of stunk when you were moving fast on horseback. And the repetitive dungeons were disappointing back then too.

But standing still looking around outside, I still sight see sometimes when I fire it up.

Wow, this is eerily identical to me. I have $40 in the best ipad games there are and have maybe played for 5 hours total in 2 years. I don't even know what a Vita is or it's appeal, partially from lack of marketing I've seen, but marketing doesn't affect me one iota. When I have a need or want, I seek out the fix, and I've never had a mobile gaming need.

Good news, you won't have to spend money on a Vita but it is available to all who do have a mobile gaming need.

Wow. Simply wow. Obviously a longer commercial than the xbone stuff, but they actually showed what the products do, not trendy people dancing and acting happy while holding a M$ surface. I like how they show plugging the ps4 up in prep for a LAN party. The xbone is supposed to stay put.

Ok Mr. Snarky
Prolly not the full scope of my sentiments did I communicate welll, I did always wonder if I was missing out but no one I know has a Vita.

Resistance still holds up, had a blast with the demo. The slight deadzone and no aim assist really threw me off at first as did the controls, but muscle memory kicked in and I resumed wrecking the Chimera, a full playthrough may be in order...

Side note, Albert Penello just got thrashed on Gaf when he posted yet another meme worthy speech. (Better than the Direct X line, expect to hear "technical fellow" in the coming days)

What I saw: game, game, game, game, movie, game, game, game, game. Sony is definitely on top of their game! wink.gif

I think that Sony will not get the most out of Vita's until they box one up in a bundle with a PS4 or PS3. It's one of those things where people would probably never buy one but if it is bundled and they have it then hey gotta buy at least one game for it to try it out. Then another, then another, LOL

Microsoft XBone is a ( in a squeaky unsure voice) gaming Console ?

Sony PS4 is a MotherFing Gaming Console !!!

People mocked them for their move towards social gaming; but this video sort of shows it all coming together. Gaming in the living room, gaming on the go, gaming in your network of friends, ect.

Seems they learned their lessons from MS and Live.
Yea the social stuff is here to stay, but it can't be the sole focus of a console and it really looks like the PS ecosystem is built to all work together very well. This was how I was hoping Android/Google TV would be. I also saw their mobile app in there. Sony is doing exactly what I've wanted others to do, one somewhat seamless system between several devices. Ah the future looks bright indeed!
social extras built around gaming is good IMO. Gaming built around social stuff would have been bad.

I was genuinely impressed seeing Yoshida watching someone else on his friend list's game live streaming, being able to comment on his game and jumping right in to MP. Then posting videos and pictures to his profile and twitter. That's the sort of social gaming that makes sense to me, built around gaming itself.

Seems a natural extension of party chat in a facebook era.

Actually, he says a lot. That thread had a bunch of posts by Albert, and he contradicts many of his own points as Gaf shreds every argument he made. He finally threw his hands up in the air and gave up as he did a ton of damage to Microsoft's reputation on Gaf which will spread across the net and through developer circles. (He insulted several devs who had commented on the spec difference)

It is a textbook example of why a PR person should never get involved in a fight on the internet, especially when those you are fighting with know what they are talking about and won't believe outright lies.

doesn't matter... He did his job, and put out the misinformation he wanted, do a simple search and you will see that his words are what is being picked up. But thats the whole point. He put out his "Facts" doesn't matter that the context was wrong .

I would like to see some sony engineers go on Gaf and let them drill them a while. But I guess that is not likely to happen till after launch.

Sony would do exactly the same thing, it'd be equally laughable if they felt they needed to respond.

I'd much rather see a neutral third party analysis, and there will be no shortage of those come November.

Same here, but it’s also not what they’re doing. They’re trying to make direct comparisons to their competition and making subjective comments on them, while beating around the bush on their own hardware. It reeks a bit of desperation, and it’s terrible PR.

Better to just do what Nintendo is doing and own the hardware’s ability, don’t focus on the technical aspects, and then focus on what you can show to prove it doesn’t matter; Games. Unfortunately for Nintendo all their big games are still in the pipe.

MS doesn’t have that problem.

Microsoft seems like a butthurt whiny fanboi these days rather than a professional company releasing a high end product.

I'd guess Sony would put an appropriately informed spokesman that knows when to just say let me get back to you on that. They just seem a bit more professional.
