I really don't care either way, I gave up on Madden years ago. More people need to vote with their wallets to put an end to this "AAA" copy and paste B.S.

Too many people just accept it. Take you for example, you thought that video was next gen because the background was detailed? I mean offense really, but as soon as saw that vid I said there is no way in hell they're trying to pass that off as "Next Gen".

I remember buying the first Madden on PS3. I was disgusted on how much garbage it was. Really crappy. Their developers truly do suck.

Now that their college football game is no longer being made, they should take that team, and basically develop two versions of Madden, one team works on even year maddens, and other other team works on odd year maddens. That way, they get a two year development cycle rather than just banging out a roster update every year.
Why would you even need two teams? Can't they use the same engine for both and just adjust the rules for college and pro differently?

I am just intrigued how much every small piece of this system was thought out and there seems to be a story behind each.
I'm really enjoying the run up to the big event.

On whether the 8 GB GDDR5 RAM and unified architecture posed an advantage to developers using the Unity Engine to develop on PS4, Helgason replied, “Absolutely. This architecture simplifies development, and makes techniques that previously were in the realm of science fiction doable. We intend to make this extremely powerful and extremely easy to use, like everything else we do!”
I think this guy may have been smoking a little before the interview...

That time to triangle again, we're hearing this again and again from everywhere.

The Playstation 4 is a machine designed by developers for developers.

I hope they release the free version of the unity engine on the playstation 4, would be interesting to have a play around with

Well, that was quick

Funny how quick this stuff gets rolling sometime. PS4/PS3 support probably went a long way to getting more people on board

Up over 4 million counting paypal, looks like all their goals were hit.

Isn't this just nice, my TV died tonight. I had no intentions of shopping for a TV any time soon. Guess I get to see what the repair will cost.

Any recommendations for a TV that plays well with games? Just in case I need to start looking.
Got a size range? Preference for LCD or Plasma? General price range would be useful as well.
I would say 46-55"

I have always avoided plasma, but not against it. Was always afraid of IR. I don't think I want to go over $1500.

Was looking at Cnet and their top plasma has bad input lag.
How prone to sunlight is your TV going to be? Panasonic's S60 line is probably the best overall TV for gaming this year, but it's antiglare is non existant.

Sony's 55w802 is at the top of your price range and has a little over one frame of lag. Impulse mode offers Plasma like motion but really cuts the brightness. The r520/50 line is cheaper, with similarly low lag. You can get the 60" model from that line in your price range.

IMO skip the repair and put that money towards a new display.
I would love to put it to a new display but I was not in the market and prepared to spend on something like this. I was planning on waiting to get into either OLED or something 4k. I don't have the money to get one at current prices.

Abes of Maine seems to have a bunch of cheap prices right now. Just have to decide if I want to flip over to a plasma.

Looks like no one close has something I want in stock.

Unless your not picky i'd just pick something up from your local Costco, Sams etc... You may need to return a few to get one with an acceptable background .

There is nothing worse then clouding on dark scenes or seeing dead pixels while playing a game..
I had plans to check out costco. But it doesn't matter. Samsung is going to fix it for free. Apparently a defective capacitor, possibly. 5 Year old TV out of warranty, and it's a defective part. Dodged a bullet, maybe.
I know this may sound crazy but you may want to try craigslist for a tv to hold you over until you save up enough to get what you want. I always search for "moving" in whatever section I'm looking in because folks tend to let things go for rock bottom prices to get rid of it.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw your post.
This is a wonder. Someone is going to be here tonight to fix this TV.

The excessive RAM, hUMA and all of that stuff seems great, but that's really for the developers to smile about; its the changes Sony has made to the PS4 that directly affects the user which have me excited...and the top of my list is that touch-pad...I just hope devs can easily program uses for it due to perhaps lack of support for cross-platform games. I know I have said this before but I really think the touch-pad is going to innovate how we deal with menus especially for RPGs and I am really happy Sony decided to include it on the DS4.

All 3 console maufactures have touch interfaces now (WiiPad / Glass / DS4). So I don't see it being much of an issue.

There also already a lot of common sense implimentations to use it for. ACBF is using it in the map menu, but there's also no reason you couldn't use it to move the HUD minimap around, then recenter it on the player with a double click

Though this poll is the definition of non-scientific, I found it interesting nonetheless.

Hah! Apparently the Reuters/Ipsos poll was an online survey and therefore doesn't have the validity of the margin of error standard, but instead uses a credibility interval of 3.1% (plus/minus).

I'm listening to some stuff over the Wii U gamepad to try and get an idea of the quality the controller streaming may offer. Hopefully it is better, listening to a concert on youtube (360p and 720p) in a particularly difficult section just had a massive drop in quality, static, pops and other crap, it was too much for the audio feed.

The same section on my phone using the youtube app had zero issues. Much higher quality, better sound stage, and not one pop, it actually impressed me...

It will be fun to test the streaming, but I doubt it will be able to hold up in any action sequence.

Maybe. But if this is the conventional wisdom:

Microsoft "couldn't make up their mind and Sony hadn't wavered from the beginning," said 26-year-old gamer Christopher Turner from Salem, Alabama, who intends to spend his cash on the PS4. "The PlayStation 4 is for both hardcore and casual gamers."

Redmond, we have a problem.

I'm still absolutely perplexed why MS is focusing on cable TV, a format on the way out and that a whole generation of upcoming gamers could care less about. Streaming sure. But TV?
