All the talk about what happens at launch will not indicate how it will be 2 or 6 years down the road. These are launch systems. Don't buy if you are worried about resolution or MP3 and anything else until the kinks are fixed. Me personally my rooms are ready for the new systems and my gaming PC will get upgraded or replaced like normal.

I do think entry price/system performance/feature set is much more important as far as system choice goes for someone on the fence of which to lean towards if they have to choose. But how many times have you heard multiplatform owners say "looks better on X, picking it up for X"?

I do think it matters there, and effects attach rates.

Is it going to matter much to a person gaming on his current choice of system with his friends? Probably not as long as the core experience is the same or similar enough to not worry about the differences.

But, it's very much a topic for a place like this forum.

Is it best to buy PS+ in advance or do I just wait till I get my PS4 and buy PS+ through the store online? Are there better deals than the store? For istance I used to buy Xbox Gold through a seller in ebay who had a good pricing. TIA

At this point you can wait. If you had a PS3 or planned to pick one up eventually it would have made sense to pick it up months ago and "purchase" all the free goodies for when you did finally get a cheap PS3. But PS4 content is still slim on the network, and the free stuff is there on day one.

Check out the Welcome thread for info on how to set up an account at least, that way you can get your Username sorted before the flood of new users that might come with launch,

Yep, that's how I paid for the few things I've bought on the PSN Store website during the past few weeks.

SInce I'm not sure when i'll be able to get a PS4, If I sign up for PS+ when the PS4 launches, I'll still be able to get those free games right? Just get them online or something, and then when i get my PS4 I'll be able to download them?

Yup, just keep an eye on the PSN Blog for Content updates (every Tuesday)

Then hit up the SEN store and "purchase it" https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/

As long as Plus items are "purchased", they're yours and you can download them from your transaction list in the future while your PSplus sub is active. Anything you buy at a discount is always your, sub or no sub.

My guess is the PSN App released for the PS4/Vita will also have the store built in a well once that comes along.

About time! I had my PP hooked up to Xbox Live for years...I hated having to go to Sony's website to 'fund' my wallet! biggrin.gif

So Xbox allows streaming. Sony will have to get this in pretty soon.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that the XB1 cannot run these games (COD and BF4) at full 1080p at 60 FPS if the developers had had all the time they needed and the non-buggered API, which is being reported.

I don't know much about PC specs and computer specs, but poster on here such as Tyrant, BD, and few others seem to know much more and seem very level headed. These are launch titles after all, and it does seem the PS4 is easier to code for (kind of a vice versa from last gen).

I'm sure we'll eventually see more of the X1s full potential, given some more time and better SDKs there's no reason they shouldn't be able to run something much better looking than ghosts at 1080p/60. I just wasn't expecting them to be that far behind at launch. If your concern is that it's only going to get worse from here I'd say not to worry about it. The specific case of ghosts running at 720p is more of a reflection of the difficulty adapting to the X1s architecture than the raw power deficit, obviously that unfamiliarity is going to cause the most problems at the point where it's the most unfamiliar - launch.

But that being said, complexity always reduces efficiency and creates more work and failure points. The simple solution is almost always the better one. Will the X1 live up to being a true next gen system? Absolutely. Will it always be lagging behind the PS4 when it comes to visuals? I'd bet on it (already have!)...although I expect the gap to remain more like the mild rift between the versions of BF4 than the gaping chasm between the versions of ghosts.

The way I see it, it's like you've got a bottle of makers mark and a 12 pack of natty ice in front of you, what you're going to reach for depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Sometimes you just want to get drunk and don't care how it tastes, and in that case either will get the job done just the same. Sometimes you want to appreciate a fine whiskey...while you're getting drunk. The goal is the same, it all depends how you wanna get there.

Really new to the PS4 thread and I'm sure this isn't a new question. I want to use this with an acoustically transparent screen. All my equipment is in a separate room about 30' away from the screen (back of the room). Will the PS4 work in the equipment room or do I need it up front by the screen for some reason? Sorry for the basic question.

Then you must have added funds through your PC or phone. A direct PayPal link from the PS3 wasn't possible until now.

Nope, straight from the ps3. First did it on 9/2. Maybe I was on a pilot program?

30' from bluetoooth/PS4 is the typical "Max" that any bluetooth controllers will work, I find 20' to be a reliable distance. So as long as your main seating area and PS4 is in that range, you should be fine controller wise.

The only major issue you, and myself as I run a projector set up to, have is a PS4 camera set up. That would need to be close to, if not under, the screen. And since the PS4 camera only comes with a meter or two on the cable length you would need a an extentsion cable, which, up until now, doesn't exist.

It will work fine. I too have an acoustically transparent screen setup with my equipment rack in the back of the room. I use my ps3 that way. Controllers work fine. Only issue may b using the Eye and having proper line of sight.

Thanks for the reply. So I could put the PS4 behind the screen and try running an hdmi cable back to the equipment room as well right?

Props to you guys for keeping things pretty civil here. That Xbone thread is a damn nightmare and it's way worse out in the mean streets. I can't wait for you guys to beta test the PS4 for me. smile.gif

Not sure if this posted in here yet, but for those who want to give the PS4 a whirl before launch, here's an interactive map via Sony letting you know where you can find on to you with.

Oh well I picked up a 1.5TB 12mm HDD that was on special for the day 1 upgrade.

Since someone said that Seagate XTs might come out with a newer version, I wait for the new release to put that in my second PS4, also since we're still not sure how much benefit will be derived. Or I might even end up going with a large SSD at a later stage if the performance gains are enough and not hobbled by a slow encryption chip.
