Someone correct me if BT isn't enabled. I hate to use wires.

It's already been confirmed that current BT headsets, including the ones for the PS3, won't work on the PS4.

You'd think...add in the idiots paying premiums on eBay. Seems pretty simple to plunk down a few bucks and reserve a copy at, I don't know, every electronics store in the States.

Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts on next gen. Waiting on PS4 until spring but XO comes next week!

Not sure about the ones in lineups, but I had originally ordered an XB1 in the summer and didn't decide to switch it till early Oct, so I have no idea when they'll have it in. I think I can wait, but gotta admit since people started receiving them I'm a little jealous smile.gif

I didn't plunk down anything through Amazon. Sure it wasn't necessary at most retailers.

Oh me too. I love electronics and gaming. With buying a house it just wasn't responsible (man I am getting old). I can live vicariously through other AVS members for a week though, lol

Guess you can't take the "MS" out of "MSNBC": PlayStation 4 plagued by problems on eve of launch

(The article itself is fine, it's the sensationalist link text that is hyperbolic).

Meanwhile, there aren't any games at launch I really want (although Resogun looks fun) so I don't have a pre-order but I'm starting to antsy reading this thread tongue.gif

See that's the thing... Yes, they said that but Bluetooth is Bluetooth, so I can't see why it wouldn't work. I've been looking at the PS4 manual online and it says that it supports Bluetooth headsets. Think I'll try it in the morning. About to roll out to GameStop in about 30 mins.

So, just got back from Gamestop...didn't have a pre-order. Able to buy console @ 6pm PST and am #2 in the pickup line. Trololo tongue.gif ; talk about dumb luck. Guess every store is different.

Daekwan I think uses a Mixamp 5.8 (or at least he used to). Anybody know if the Mixamp works after the 1.5 update?

Down here, we've got Uverse, which is probably the worst internet known to man. I had it for one long horrible year.

If my wife and I move, it'll either be the D.C. area or Boston within the next year or so. Already been to the Bama bar in Boston too! Love the area. My buddy in Prov is moving to an apt in Back Bay area of Boston next month.

I love the city, even if it goes to sleep early by other major city standards. You can walk anywhere in the city easily, and you're 15-20 minuets from woodlands just outside the city, 90min from the Berkshires, and 2hrs from the NH mountains. Then there's the Cape and Islands too. It's just so damn expensive to live here, or anywhere in the state really.

It turns out that Kotaku's PS4 just had some weird, isolated issue - a piece of metal was jamming up the HDMI port and it is now fixed. If I'm not mistaken, only that site and ign.com reported a problem unit out of all the media outlets that got some PS4s:

Quote:
Later in the day, I got a call from Sony. They'd examined our unit and they figured out the problem. A piece of metal in the system's HDMI port was supposed to have been flush with the bottom of the port but instead had been bent upward, obstructing some of the pins in the port. It had been hard to see, though I imagine we would have noticed if we'd examined the unit more closely and not given it back. Nevertheless, we were told that that PS4 had been fixed. The Sony employee testing our unit used a pin to push the small piece of metal back down. They then plugged an HDMI wire into the unit and it worked. They even brought the unit to our office so we could see for ourselves.

The obstructing piece of metal in the formerly-broken PS4 had actually knocked some of the "teeth" out of the HDMI wire—the one bundled with that PS4—that we'd originally plugged into the unit, the Sony folks told us. We checked two other HDMI wires that we'd used during our brief bit of troubleshooting, and sure enough, they were missing the same teeth, too.

The good news here is that the problem was small and easily fixed. The slightly bad news is that we're unable to tell you why this happened. It's certainly possible that we accidentally knocked that piece of metal upward when we first plugged Sony's HDMI wire into the PS4. We can't rule out human error on our end. But we've been plugging wires into HDMI sockets for a long time, and we've never had this issue before. It's also possible there was something wrong with Sony's wire and that that's where the initial fault lies. Or perhaps the jack was indeed badly made. Sony doesn't know. We don't know.

If you want a PS4 shipped to you from Amazon soon after the launch, you have a new opportunity to order their newest combo tonight at 12:00 AM EST. Behold... the $600 PS4+Kindle Fire HDX 7" bundle!

Amazon is just trying to use this opportunity to sell sell some of their Kindle's I see. Like in the stores I saw in Massachusetts, it's really not hard to get a PS4 in some cities if you never pre- ordered one especially if you showed up by around 8pm. Obviously much harder in some other cities around the US.

I still have no tracking number. Since I got the status changed to "shipping now" around noon, it has not changed.

I got this UPS tracking number that was really getting under my skin, because it had an estimated arrival of the 19th. Then I realized it was not from amazon.

Isn't that something, while I'm typing this I get the text on my phone from amazon with a number finally.

Once again, they opt for overnight shipping. Not really overnight, because it's now 10:30pm... and they are just getting to it. Status finally changed.

Man I show up at GS 10 mins after 6pm and there's a big ass line. I get in line and a guy with clipboard walks up and puts his hand on the shoulder of the guy in front of me and yells "this guy gets the last PS4!" My heart sunk....

Thankfully he was talking about the last non pre-order. But I didn't find that out until several tense minutes later mad.gif

Anyhow, I'm number 44.

Off of work and staring at my UPS shipping info, made it to my town and will be delivered tomorrow. Now to drool over all of your stories until the all access show on Spike.

This is the line from the official PS4 FAQ:
Quote:
Headsets - Bluetooth - NO - Headsets that are currently commercially available are incompatible.

There is no getting around it; you will need one of the new, unreleased Bluetooth headsets if that's the route you wish to take for communicating while gaming.

I'm wondering if they sacrificed this to send audio & mic over the controllers. Remember, the system support 4 of them concurrently.

Someone on twitter from the review event said the quality is really good stereo sound, and BT 2.1 supports CD quality sound (although I don't know much of the standard)
I'll be doing extensive tests of the audio quality over the headphones tomorrow. So long as youtube is working. (Since mp3 support isn't) I have a concert video that I used for my Wii U gamepad test that is perfect.

I got to my Gamestop right at 6pm and I ended up getting #10. I'm really surprised there weren't a ton more people there. This GS is in the heart of a very busy area. My buddy went to the same location a few years back for the GTAIV midnight release and he said there were easily 100 people there.

I'm thinking that a lot of people didn't know about the 6pm check in. I got the text yesterday saying " come in at 6pm on Thursday to finalize payment for your PS4 preorder". I assumed that I didn't have to finalize anything because I paid off my preorder months ago. I'm glad I called today just to make sure. But the text was really vague, it should of said something like, "get here at 6pm to receive a voucher to secure your spot in line". I literally had no idea how their whole system worked until I got there at 6 and talked to guy at the counter.

How do you like that port? What do you not like about it, if anything? I saw it was one of the highest rated ones on amazon. But it's looks like it's some chinese thing that more than one company puts their name on.

Watching the Spike event, my internet is acting funny with the youtube app so I am not chancing that right now.
