PlayStation 4 - Page 310

I think this launch is the biggest flop from any electronic manufacturer. The way I understand a "Release Date" is the day the public can purchase a product. With the PS4 this is not the case at all. How could Sony drop the ball on their biggest console release in 7 years and at the holidays? This should be called a "Shipment Date" for those who pre-ordered a console. If you didn't pre-order one your S.O.L. because no retailer nor does Sony know when they are shipping more, as stores only had maybe 12 extra consoles for walk in sales. If the product has been released you should be able to at least pay and reserve a console for when a store gets their next shipment but you can't even do that. You can't even order one online and wait for it to be shipped when the next batch is shipped. How can this console be called "Released" if you can even buy it? This would NEVER happen with a Apple product. If they sold out in stores or what not you could still order online and they would never kill the ability to order online. You might have to wait a couple of weeks but you aware of that when you order it. The point of a pre-order is so a company can get an idea of how many units they need to produce and an idea of the demand, not to mention, that's money coming in for something that isn't even released yet. Seems to me Sony doesn't care about its customers who are forking over $400+ with their unstable and glitchy console. To say they had limited time with the hardware for the OS. I don't buy that. Sony, you've had 7 years! 7 whole years to perfect this console and work out the glitches and bugs and release a superior console. How many new products have Apple released within 7 years and some completely redesigned? Sony isn't the company they use to be and it has shown over the past few years. They are not on their game anymore and seems they are just throwing crap together and throwing it at a wall and hoping it sticks to dig them out of bankruptcy at the cost of the consumers. I will most likely not be buying this console due to it's unavailability and poor planning and bad reviews. Instead I will be holding my cash for when Apple announces their new console in June.

Well,
Long story short....sent my DOA PS4 back to Amazon, and was lucky enough to get one of the last 3 consoles at Costco.....and it works!! Haven't had a lot of time with it yet, but I like what I see so far. I'll also be testing it as a blu-ray player soon, and test how well it performs.

As a proud Apple stock holder since 1998, I'm very happy that you love the company. But, while you're venting "for all of us to read", lets state the obvious; why didn't YOU pre-order like the other million or so of us?

Sounds like sour grapes. You don't have one, so you sound like you're hating on those that do and on Sony. The console is sold out because it's popular. All consoles sell out at launch, 360, PS2, PS3, Wii, etc, all but Wii U. Where have you been? These consoles, or all high end electronics really, are assembled at the very last minute for several reasons. This saves on warehousing mostly, but it also allows the company to include the most up to date components possible. Since you bring up my beloved Apple, I certainly hope you don't think Apple products don't sell out or have shortages. How about try to find a new Retina iPad Mini tomorrow at your local Apple Store? Guess what, you won't find one. Why? Because it's state of the art, hard to build, and popular, just like the first new console in 7 years; the PS4.

Apple products, like anyone else's are also always glitchy. My MacBook Pro Retina had all sorts of issues last year when I purchased it, and it was over $2500 and didn't work right until after a software update, which took almost 2 months! Sony, will likely release a glitch fix on Monday or so. EA will likely fix BF4 by then also, as they've got teams working all weekend to keep guys like you from bi!c#ing all over the internet.

You've only had 10 or so posts on AVS, please make your future posts relevant and impactful.

I really hope this was a sarcastic post. Every apple product has been released to general limited quantities. Only recently have people been able to walk-in to any store and buy a product on release day mainly because most people have stopped buying each new iteration of said product. Sony isn't some magical manufacturing fairly that just shits out consoles on a whim, same goes for MS, Nintendo, Apple etc. Things take time to make. People have known since June the console was coming and it's really on them for not ordering ahead of time.

For those who did and didn't get it delivered when guaranteed, that is on the seller (not Sony). If Amazon sold more than it had that is their screw up.

Yay, happy for you bud! Hopefully tomorrow gives you tons of time to enjoy the console.

Seriously Texan, you've got to be joking. This is nothing new for a console launch and is going to happen again this Friday with the Xbox One.

I tried to do a Twitch broadcast tonight while playing KZ but kept getting a "lost connection to the serve" error. Anyone else experience that. I guess the PSN is still having issues because none of that extra game info or what's new stuff is loading in the media bar for me.

Only in MP. SP works flawless. I start to broadcast in MP and about 30secs in it just goes tits up. I think tyrant had a good stream of MP earlier today. Do you get an error code?

I have this PS USB charger I got on clearance but guess I haven't bothered to actually charge them since yesterday. That sucked, controller died while I was driving a tank in BF so I swapped out to another controller identified as low battery. Finished the match and tossed em on charge.

Regarding controllers running out of juice:

You have to go into the Power Save settings and set your controller to turn off after 10 minutes or 20 minutes or 30 minutes of non use. I was downloading the Fifa 14 demo for what seemed like a million years, and I didn't have this setting selected, and my DS4 was on the whole damn time with that light shinning. Then the controller died, and I was like what the fuh... I've barely used this thing. Then I remembered that I probably need to make sure that it's set to turn off when it hasn't been used in awhile. Sure enough, the default power saving thing was set to off, so I put it on the 10 minute setting. Next time I'm downloading a huge demo, the controller won't drain out on me.

for those trying to get one, this site http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/ps4/ helpful for notifying you of when they have a ps4 in stock. I was notified by txt Friday night that they were available from Target with delivery options if you want to pay the extra price of receiving it the next day or two.

Some thoughts...

After viewing a number of broadcasts from each service it looks like Ustream has better PQ over Twitch. Maybe it's my ISP? It's not a huge difference but it is noticeably better over Ustream for me.

Played a BluRay today: The Transporter. Definitely a softball visual presentation but it looked great. Sound was excellent as well running LPCM over HDMI directly to the receiver. Might try a more difficult visual like House of Flying Daggers to see how it really performs. Noise is no more than my PS3 slim 1 during playback and the console felt cooler than running a game.

Playing through Shadow Fall I had an audio glitch. The voice track disappeared at the end of the forest level that the previews showed. Closed, restarted, and problem solved. Otherwise it has run very well.

Also not sure why folks bitch about the UI. I have yet to open the manual and have found and accomplished everything I've wanted so far with little fuss.

Happy gaming over here.

Is there any way to set the system to automatically default to using cloud storage for saved games?

I'm not finding anything other than the ability to manually upload saves one by one.

I had the same problem.
I found out it was because I did not "Activate as Primary."

The data management is possibly the most confusing menu at all, but as far as I can tell, it's automatically uploading by default.  If you go in and manage the online storage you'll probably see everything there already.

Is it me or there's not a lot of free content for PS+ members?, not nearly as much as on when I was using PS3 anyway. Or am I missing something? I know my membership is still active cause I looked it up. Just doesn't seem to have a lot of content.

It came out two days ago, give them a chance.

On my PS4 it saves locally but auto uploads it to the online storage.

Go to Saved Data Managment - Saved Data in system storage - Upload to Online Storage - Press options over a game and it should pop up saying Auto Upload. Select it and you can pick on/off. Check each game to make sure they are all on.

cool, wasn't complaining, just making sure I wasn't missing anything. As a matter of fact, I have no complaints at all, everything is flawless so far. The BD load time is insane!! in a good way.
I'll check that auto upload setting. I thought it showed on for Resogun but even after a day and a half it hadn't auto uploaded.

Shame you just can't set that globally and be done. Or have it auto on for PS+ members since there's no reason I can think of to not want to use that feature.

My launch ps3 was stolen in a cross country move in early 2007. I lost every save I had from the ps and ps2 eras.
