inFAMOUS: Second Son - a spectacular looking super hero exclusive (PS4) - Page 3

I haven't played infamous yet. I would like to if I can find it cheap, but my PS3 backlog is getting pretty large (geez, Tales of Xillia, Record of the Argarest War 2, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, MGSR, Prototype 2, I'm sure there's other's I've forgotten) I just don't have the time like I used to frown.gif

That being said, this game is looking damned good. If it plays as well as it looks, this could be one of the first games I get for the PS4. I'm not planning to get one at launch but I likely will before the end of 2014. (or when FFXV comes out, whichever hits first)

Pretty sure both games have been free on Plus before. The Infamous collection is pretty cheap too.

Don't have plus yet, but I will. Especially if I can get infamous for free...

If it's any consolation it appears this game won't have many character/story connections back tot he first games besides being set in the same universe as Cole. It's on the other side of the country from him as well.

There might be some nods and cameos, but it looks like they found a different story they want to tell so it should stand on it's own (think RE1/RE2 or SH1/SH2 same universe, different story/characters).

Yeah as long as there's at least a causal connection between the first two and this one I'm happy. Flash backs, news reports, maybe mentions by characters. That's what I expect. I can't think of any main characters who would cameo and would make sense but you never know. As long as there's a nod to the original games I'm happy.

I can think of two, but only one of them is actually likely.

Since seeing Infamous: Second Son at E3, I’ve walked around telling people how impressed I was with how it looked -- the way Delsin’s jean vest fluttered in the wind, the particles when he divebombed the baddies, and so on. Today, I played Infamous: Second Son, and now, I’m going to walk around telling people how impressed I am with how it feels. There’s something different about Second Son, and it’s the fluidity of movement.

Sure, the parkour in Infamous and Infamous 2 was great, but there’d still be those moments where you were trucking through Empire City, hit a brick wall, and have have to climb up brick by brick. Infamous: Second Son is all about streamlining that process, and it seems to work well. Delsin can still parkour his heart out, but as I began to hoof it up the side of a building, developers from Sucker Punch nudged me toward a vent. I smoke-dashed at it, flew up through the pipe, and was suddenly soaring above Seattle.

***
Not every use of the power is in this early version of Second Son, but the one that is -- and definitely stands out -- is the neon dash. Holding circle turns Delsin into a jumble of pink and purple particles that can move at super-speed down the street, up walls, and all around the city. He basically looks like the Flash moving at lightspeed. While everything (like that super-run animation) is open to change as we move toward Infamous: Second Son’s February release date, the game currently packs a new heads up display that has icons for imprisoned civilians, places to recharge smoke, and a musician (I’m not sure what that last one’s all about yet).

Sucks that all the real next gen games aren't coming out until next year. But at least we have Killzone. Not the hugest fan of that series, but it does look great.

It's funny to me that inFamous is looking more watchdogs, and watchdogs is looking more... spiderman.

Wonder if Watchdogs will get to their reveal vibe in time...
I'm hoping so because every video I've seen since the reveal has looked worse and worse. inFamous on the other hand, yowza...

Infamous is my most wanted PS4 title. The delay to February hurt but seeing how the game looks even better each time they show it off, I am just fine with waiting 3-4 months to play it.

But February isn't a delay. The game was always tagged for a 2014 release.

It was revealed as a launch title back in February.

I just want to hear an actual release date for the game. My biggest fear is that it gets delayed till June or something.

Um, what?

Those terrible old open world spiderman games that didn't have much going on.

I'm thinking more like the open world of GTA:IV. Nothing really going on outside of standard missions and whatever crappy side missions were available. No real interactivity in the world, unlike GTA:V. If it's more like the former, bummer. If more like the latter, great. Even then though I wished GTA:V had a more interactive world. It was good but definitely had room for improvement. The destructible nature of the inFamous world looks very promising from at least a get bored and blow crap up perspective.

Yeah, it's my biggest pet peeve of these open world games.

You have these huge, detailed cities; and the same 3-4 mission types and kill civilians. There's so much room for improvement to make them more encompassing, interesting, and inclusive to the player experience.

Totally agree on the GTA: V reference. if they added stuff like tractor trailer heists, casino games, off shore deep sea fishing, etc., more of the map would get utilized.

Something just occured to me. They have zero reasons to keep Delsin out of the water.

An awesome, new gameplay vid is out:

Feb is too far away.... The game looks amazing, even on youtube.

I just hope they've thought up some cool new mission types to go along with their awesome new tech.

Awesome, I'm in.

I have to say this upfront because I don't want the rest of it to be misconstrued: I'm getting this game the day it comes out. I'm excited for it. With that said, does anyone else feel like it's missing something? I can't put my finger on it, but it's almost like it doesn't seem like inFamous. It almost seems... Bland (not graphically, but gameplay-wise). Am I the only one thinking this?
Looks like the old ones to me, but with much, much better IQ. Maybe the cleanliness of the GFX and squeaky clean Seattle is throwing you off?

Old ones were in a war torn city, and broken down bayou

Seems like they've just shown off the basics so far, human soldiers and traversing around the city. Fighting other conduits will be the real heart of the game and that hasn't been revealed yet.
