Looks better every time they show it. Fingers still crossed for 60fps.

I'm seriously beginning to regret not pre-ordering...

It's free digitally with PS+.

I think he meant he regrets not pre-ordering the PS4 console (isn't Walmart taking day-one preorders still?).
Ah, of course. My bad.

Not sure on the US, but Best Buy is taking pre-orders online (Canada) as well as EB/Gamestop in store. Probably not guaranteed Day One though.

Yep, Walmart still has preorders open instore. They are doing a terrible job advertising it.

I wonder if the climate will affect how you drive the car. If its raining do you have to worry about hydroplaning? If the weather is colder will the track have more grip and if its a brutally hot day will your car loosen up? What about races that start out during the day and end at night, will the track conditions also change time of day and with the weather? Am I expecting too much from a PSN+ free racing sim? smile.gif

I think a little, but I do think thats where the genre is heading. AFAIK weather is not in yet, but may be added at a later date. They did hint towards atmospherics that might effect gameplay, but the only confirmed thing is it absolutely effects lighting.

That would be pretty cool, though from the demo I played a few weeks ago there was no car setup menu before you started the race. Perhaps they add that to the final version, but I imagine the detail of setting up your car tight or loose depending on conditions...or even better, changing the setup mid-race...is probably not going to be there.

Mercedes-Benz AMG Trailer. I'm impressed!

Looks prettier every time I see it.

I posted this in the PS4 thread, but it was suggested that I repost in a racing game thread as it may be more appropriate and get more knowledgeable people regarding the specific question. I appreciate any insight you may have:

I have a question about steering wheels for the PS4. As far as I can see there is only one "official" wheel for the PS4 announced. Not knowing much about what to look for in a wheel, would anyone have any tips? I'm looking for something that I can use but that would also not be overly complicated for kids to use as well. I figure kids would have an easier time playing Driveclub with a wheel rather than the regular controller. I would imagine there will be more options as the system launches, but it would be good to know pros/cons of wheels to make a good choice once there are choices. Thanks!

Thrustmaster T80 is the announced official wheel. Last time I researched any was over 2 years ago but they make a quality item as far as I could tell.

The support for PS3 peripherals on PS4 is up in the air right now, so I wouldn't bank on any current PS3 wheels working flawlessly with PS4. The problem lies with software and licensing issues because each peripheral maker uses something different to run their particular wheel, so no telling what will happen. I own a Logitech Driving Force GT, a great wheel, but Logitech just dropped all their console business this year. I'm probably shopping as well if I want a wheel on PS4.

My advice is wait and see if you can, buy official if you have to have it day 1.

Thanks for your help. I was hoping to have it by Xmas so I definitely have some time. Will wait and see how things go.

Colonel Rogers from the DriveClub dev claims PS3 wheels will work.

I hope that's true. With the headset issue that just happened I'm cautious about the whole thing.

Me too. I am expecting this to be debunked by the time the console releases but am hoping that they wouldn't let misinformation like this flow in the wild. People on various forums, including the official one, have been openly discussing it.
So everybody who buys a PS4 gets a 14 day trial to PSN right ? On the retail packaging, I thought I saw something like a 14 day trial is included. If this is the case, why would anybody purchase DriveClub at retail, until trying out the plus version first ? I guess, there could be a few people out there that don't know that there will also be a plus version, but it just seems kinda weird. I know it's only a 14 day trial, but seems like the retail sales of this game is going to take a pretty big hit right at launch.

It helps push digital. I expect a lot of people to do the upgrade.
It's too bad but it sounds as if this one is delayed and won't make launch.
Not surprised at all that this game is possibly being delayed till 2014.
It's kind of surprising to me since the developers sounded so confident that they would reach their targets, even 60 FPS was starting to sound very possible.

If the rumour is true, it's bad publicity for Sony but it works out good for me personally. s I'm not a big racing fan anyway, so they're bound to offer something else for PS Plus.

I was interesting in Driveclub mainly for the superb graphics, the lighting was amazing imo. I've never seen anything like it even on project cars.

Hopefully even if they delay the release they allow PS+ owners to participate in a beta.
I guess we know why a 30% build was shown at E3 now.

Sucks missing launch, but if they release before Christmas or early 2014 at 60FPS I think most will be forgiven. GT6 and Need for Speed: Rivals was bound to suck some air out of their sails anyways
post #175 of 268
The delay is not written in stone but Sony's lack of denial is very telling.

I wouldn't read much into it. Sonys been pretty stoic about releasing info on their own terms and not commenting on rumors this go around.

As we've seen with MS, there's no point getting drawn into or flaming the fire of a discussion you can't win.

The DriceClub online marketing rep used to comment a lot at NeoGAF, but he's been away since his wife gave birth to their new baby. Too bad he isn't available to comment.

I agree with you except for the fact that harmful rumors usually get commented on very quickly.

Yep...
Not until they're actually harmful though, and/or you have a plan to mitigate the harm

Otherwise you're just pointing out the fire that many people didn't even know you started, with nothing reassuring to say to mitigate the damage or put out the flames.

MS has been terrible at doing just that these last 5 months. First rule of PR is don't make the situation worse. Second is have a plan to mitigate the damaged already done.

My guess is they're trying to find a next gen plus replacement at this time, or seeing if ES htis their next landmark before making a decision. Unless this rumor blows up and they need to move up their plans on how to handle it, they'll keep quite to buy some time and not bring attention to it.
