Deep Down... Capcom's latest dragon stomper on the PS4 - Page 3

If they go with the cosmetics-only F2P formula, it should be well received. Any deviation from that and Capcom's competence comes into play.

I may put a little money into it if the free portion is fun, but everything I have seen so far tells me I won't like it. I really need to see more weapons than just the sword and spear.

High-def, direct feed co-op dragon fight. eek.gif

YouTube's compression and lack of 60fps playback to mirror the game's frame rate is an issue, but the volumetric fire and dragon animation is insane. I hope Capcom's pay-to-play model doesn't screw this up.

Graphics look fantastic but Capcom will screw this up, no doubt about it.

They'll give it some goofy storyline that makes no sense to anyone and try to mix too many different elements into it in an attempt to broaden the appeal.

I hope I am wrong but... rolleyes.gif

It's encouraging to see alternate skins for the player. No doubt each variant requires $$$, but hopefully they are cosmetic only with no stats attached.

Yep, free to play and there is an Assassin's Creed style modern element.

I guess you missed the fully dynamic flame effects along with the wind spell that are whipping the flames around with it.

I think the poor dragon was constipated and trying to push one out.

The effects are cool, but I agree with Kadath. Maybe give the dragon a finite amount of time to blow fire from his lungs. Unless the only organ inside this animal is a lung, or whatever organ makes it breathe fire.

The dragon has endless supply of fire and the guys just run around him doing nothing. The one guy stops time and spends 70% of the spell just walking around. I'm sure they are all describing what is going on in japanese but watching it without an understanding of the japanese language is mind numbing.

I foresee this title getting A LOT of live broadcasts.

This could be a great multi-player/co-op title if the bar for entry isn't too hard.

Some more info (http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/12/29/ps4-exclusive-deep-down-gets-new-info-greatswords-memento-buffs-online-corpse-looting-and-more/).

I'd hope this is just to demo the fluid dynamic effects (wind, water, & fire all is simulated in this game; here the fire is normal and engulfing the room / a hall way, and is then counteracted and brought into a whirlwind spell by a player.). I'm sure the dragon will be a little more formidable than going around and sticking a pike in his unprotected pooper.

That said action RPG's tend to make attacks somewhat predictable and repetitive, allowing people to make builds and use items / weapon animation sets against enemies. I'm thinking the bosses in Demons/Darks Souls here where knowing patterns and when to attack / block /dodge helps immensely.

All they really do is have to give his attack a sweeping motions and it'll be harder to counter.

I so want this game to be good, but I am cautiously pessimistic. If capcom goes full on Dead Rising cool with it, it could be insane. That fire blow illustrates some key things that are not looking FUN in addition to the beautiful

The nice thing about being a pessimist is that for any given prediction you are either right or surprised. I hope hope hope I am surprised.

They add the Strider class from Dragon's Dogma and I will be all over the game, they stick to the current swordsplay and I will probably only play it a little bit.

Haha, I said that six months ago. Capcom has now delayed the game. For what reason?

About Deep Down, I think we’ll give full fledged information to everyone after the summer, so you may have to wait for a little while beyond the launch [of PS4] on February 22nd.

Since we don’t want to risk to be told “This could have been done on PS3!”, we want to finish a game that fully uses the PS4 hardware specs.

Guess enough people expressed disappointment with the visuals between the first trailer and first gameplay. Good move. 1st generation of games on a new system often could use a few tweaks here and there.

I have to say, the actual game visuals continue to look better and better based on this latest trailer:

Damn that looks amazing.

Really good lighting, shader and particle effects. Gameplay looks like a copy of DeS/DkS, so good. Still not sure on the procedurally generated worlds or the (maybe) free to pay model.

It does look good though the initial reveal graphics look quite a bit getter. I am sure that was just some target render on a PC.
