Anybody using EventGhost with Windows 8?

For the most part EventGhost works well for me running on Windows 8. I just have two small but annoying problems:

1. EG takes a long time to start up. If I go to the desktop and watch the taskbar, it takes about 15 seconds for the EG icon to show up and start responding to key presses from my Harmony remote.
2. I use a blank screensaver and EventGhost will not disable it. When the screensaver comes on I have to use my mouse or keyboard to get it off--no buttons on the remote will do the trick.

Any help would be much appreciated. Also, does anybody use anything besides EG? Intelliremote? AutoHotKey and winLirc?

I use Eventghost with Windows 8. I set it to wait to start b/c I'm accessing things on a NAS.

2. Sounds like your IR receiver is powering off to conserve power.

Thanks for the feedback. The IR receiver still lights up and I changed "USB selective suspend setting" to Disabled under Power Options. That didn't seem to help. I'm going to change the power scheme to "high performance" and see if that makes a difference. Maybe also see if I can disable a non-blank screensaver with the remote.

Also, you don't want EG to start promptly at windows startup because you have content on a NAS?

I have automated tasks that happen off of the NAS and I had problems under Win7 with Eventghost starting before the network connection was established to the NAS. This caused a lot of issues for me so I just do a delayed start to avoid it.

I would suggest going into device manager and right click on the ir receiver ---> properties ---> power management

uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

check Allow this device to wake the computer

I'm not on a win8 computer right now so these might not be exact.

I'll try that. Thanks for the suggestions.
