I was watching my TV when suddenly the screen started looking like this:

I have tried the following to correct it:
1) Unplugged the TV and let it sit there for about half an hour
2) Attempted to update firmware (figured it might reset whatever went wrong). Looks like two sets of firmware had been released since I last updated in 2006, but unfortunately, the newest one gives me a 'invalid firmware! checksum error' error (and doesn't look like Philips has a link any more for the other firmware). I formatted the USB drive to FAT like the directions said first., redownloaded, no love.
I tried googling the problem, but I'm not even sure how to describe what the screen looks like in words.
The TV is obviously old (I bought it in March of '06), so it doesn't exactly owe me anything. I use it as a second TV in the house in my office and it only really gets used when I need to entertain my infant daughter to give my wife some peace in the main living room. So I'd rather not spend the money on a new one if this one can be salvaged!
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
