what are these lines on my TV??

first off, this is an October 2011 Panasonic TCP55Gt30. This started about a week ago and it only does it on the upper portion of the tv. First I thought it was in the HDMI cable. I've tried 3 different ones and still the same. I then tried a different HDMI port on the TV to see if there was a connection issue. NO change. Upgraded my Direct tv DVR to the Genie and no change (not because of the issue. Just happened to be scheduled), so it's not my direct tv box. I played a movie via my oppo blu ray and it's there also so it can't be the satellite signal. Everything runs through my receiver to my tv, so I thought maybe it was the switch in my Onkyo. I then ran HDMI direct from my Directv to the tv to rule out my receiver and no change. It doesn't do it all the time, it's intermittent, but getting more frequent. It's not noticable when watching most movies since the black bars hide it, but when on full screen it's visible and driving me nuts!! It has to be in the tv itself since I ruled everything else out. Anybody have any ideas?? I have a 5 year plan on my Panasonic. Should I make a call?

for instance. I took those pics 10 minutes ago. Lines have not been there most of the day. They've been there for the last couple of hours. Just went back and they are gone! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh. and it's not one channel. you can scroll through all channels and it remains while the issue is happening. You can even replay a DVR event that didn't have the issue originally, but it will be there when replayed. HAs to be in the screen itself. TV only has one HDMI attached to it and everything runs through a monster power conditioner.confused.gif
Just giving as much info as possible.smile.gif

Either Buffer Board is going bad or the ribbon cable for that section needs to be re-seated and or cleaned..

That actually looks like Morse Code. Any of your ancestors telegraph operators? tongue.gif Good deal on the extended warranty. Use it.

Waiting to hear back from Panasonic on Monday to see if they will cover it before I call the warranty place. It has 5 years of coverage.

I had a similiar issue with my plama; mine was a horizontal stripe that would go blank/black. It turned out to be that the ribbon cable connector needed to be cleaned. After that repair, it was fine.

Where is the ribbon cable? Is it easy to get to myself to check?

Well. Not sure what's going on, but I haven't seen the lines since 2:00 yesterday. That's the longest stretch since it started to happen.

Tech came out today. Called panasonic and the warranty company. Called it failed lines of resolution in the plasma screen. They are replacing the tv.
